Senior Advisor, Financial Services Risk Management – EY Cyprus

The Advisory team includes industry practitioners and quantitative analysts to provide financial and risk management services to leading financial institutions.

The opportunity:

Working together, we help clients better assess and improve their operations, grow revenue and manage risks to increase shareholder value. You will build valued relationships with clients and other members of our team and focus on high-impact opportunities and projects. Bringing experience and unique insight in one or more disciplines, you will use your knowledge to provide combined services covering a spectrum of activities from finance and financial risk management to information technology.

Your key responsibilities:

As part of our team you will be expected to take on responsibility and initiative early, providing you with real experience working with a wide range of major clients in Cyprus and abroad. You will assist the Advisory team by collecting information, performing financial analysis and financial risk modelling, supporting and participating in client interviews, workshops and meetings, preparing project deliverables and high quality reports.

Skills and attributes for success:

  • Designing, building and validating models using statistical and other quantitative techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills in English.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills. 

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • 6+ years of direct experience in the financial services industry, within a risk/regulation related environment is essential.
  • Excellent academic background, including a Bachelor degree in either Economics, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Engineering, Operational Research.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the banking industry (e.g. Basel requirements for capital and liquidity, BRRD requirements etc.) is essential.
  • Prior experience with at least one of the following, ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery Plan, Resolution Plan, Risk Appetite framework, COREP/FINREP, is essential.
  • Fluent Greek and English is a pre-requisite. Knowledge of additional languages will be appreciated.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation and technical writing skills.
  • Proficient users of Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • A Master degree in Management and Regulation of Risk.
  • Other professional qualifications such as PRM, ACA, ACCA, CFA, PRINCE, PMP, etc.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following would be considered an asset:
  • Banking products (loans, credit facilities, deposits etc.) and the key risks associated with these.
  • Risk management practices across major risk types such as Credit Risk, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Interest Rate Risk and Liquidity Risk.
  • Risk Governance.
  • Risk metrics/measures, sensitivity analysis, scenario analysis and stress testing.
  • Financial analysis, key performance indicators, and financial accounting.
  • Accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
  • Prior consulting experience with a Big 4 firm or large global financial institution.
