The Cancer Biophysics Laboratory at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Cyprus announces one (1) full-time (140 hours/month) Special Scientist (Research Fellow) position.
Specifically, the successful candidate will primarily focus on genetically engineering microorganisms for cancer therapeutics and will contribute to various aspects of molecular biology and microbiology techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, or a related field
• Strong expertise in molecular cloning techniques and experience with genetically engineering microorganisms
• Proficiency in molecular biology techniques including RT-qPCR, PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blotting, culturing of cancer cells and microorganisms
• Experience with immunofluorescence staining and microscopy
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to present research findings
• Experience with handling mice and conducting in vivo studies is advantageous

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Design and execute experiments involving molecular cloning techniques to engineer microorganisms for cancer research
2) Perform basic molecular biology techniques such as RT-qPCR, PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blotting, immunofluorescence staining, culturing of cells and microorganisms
3) Utilize confocal microscopy for imaging and analysis of cellular interactions
4) Contribute to the design and execution of in vivo studies involving tumor mouse models
5) Analyze data, interpret results, and contribute to manuscript preparation
6) Collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive research environment

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
The monthly gross salary may range between €2500 and €3000 and is based on the candidates’ experience and qualifications. Employee contributions will be deducted from this amount. 13th salary is not provided.
