THE COMPANY

On behalf of our client, a reputable ship management Company, we seek to recruit an energetic and high calibre professional for the position of Chief Accountant, to be based in Limassol.

THE POSITION

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations within the Company. This position reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and collaborates closely with other departments to support the company's financial objectives.

More specifically, the responsibilities of the successful candidate will be the following, amongst other:

  • Support the Chief Operations Officer of the Company in the development and implementation of policies, priorities and processes in relation to the financial management activities of the Company
  • Ensure timely preparation of monthly consolidated management accounts and cash-flow management reports
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and provide guidance and support to his/her team in order to ensure maximum performance
  • Ensure timely tax payments and tax returns preparation in compliance with the local legislation
  • Prepare business activity reports and variance analysis reports as required and in support to the various functions and/or departments of the Company
  • Process and monitor all accounts payable and accounts receivable and take appropriate action
  • Review invoices issued to clients, suppliers and associates to ensure accuracy
  • Monitor the reconciliation of creditors and debtors and related bank statements
  • Review payroll in a timely and accurate manner, including social insurance deductions
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data and compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g. IFRS)
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities and provide recommendations to improve financial performance
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with professional standards, applicable laws and regulations and company policies
  • Liaise with external advisors for day-to-day business issues (e.g. auditors, lawyers, bankers) and with financial institutions / banks

REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional qualification ACA / ACCA / CPA
  • Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or in a related field
  • At least five (5) years of related experience in the shipping / ship management sector
  • Excellent knowledge of regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and financial reporting frameworks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effective management skills and ability to provide direction to his/her team
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Organisational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent knowledge of the Greek and English languages, both written and verbal
  • Excellent computer literacy with advanced Microsoft Office skills (including exposure with computerized accounting software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel)
