The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit Science and Technology oriented Educational and Research Institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research agenda of CyI is pursued at its five Research Centres: The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Centre (CaSToRC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Centre (STARC), the Energy Environment Water Research Centre (EEWRC), the Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre (CARE-C), and the Science and Technology Driven Policy and Innovation Research Centre (STeDI-RC). The Cyprus Institute invites applications for a highly qualified and motivated individual to join the Institute as a “Training and Advisory Support Expert in Artificial Intelligence” to support the EuroHPC National Competence Center (NCC) and the Digital Innovation Hub of Cyprus. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of the executive AI-training that will be provided by the Graduate School.

This role is a chance for the successful candidate to pave the way in the field of Generative AI, comprising Large Language Models, Image and Video Generators, Multimodal Generative Models, etc. The selected individual will be creating and refining educational material for these emerging fields and will be delivering courses/seminars to a variety of target audiences. The key objective of this position is to enable different audiences such as groups of executives, administrators, teachers, and students to benefit from the advancements in Generative AI technologies.

Working in close collaboration with CyI Faculty, Research staff and external partners, the individual will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of appropriate educational material, offering a unique opportunity to shape the understanding and application of AI tools and processes in various sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining the teaching and learning approach and must be flexible with different modes of delivery, using where appropriate, a variety of pedagogical methods to facilitate the achievement of planned learning outcomes. In addition, the selected candidate will be in charge of ensuring that the teaching methods, tools and material used in the training are cutting-edge, effective and support the use of state-of-the-art educational technologies.

The successful candidate will also work on Research & Development projects in the areas of Machine Learning, AI and High-Performance Data Analytics, in close collaboration with research engineers, as well as provide advisory support to external partners. The position offers the opportunity for further research activities, in the case of PhD holder candidates.

This appointment will initially be for a period of 2 years, with the possibility for renewal based on performance and fund availability. The Cyprus Institute offers an internationally competitive remuneration package, commensurate with the candidate's experience level.

Responsibilities/activities to be involved in:

• Develop, revise, and update educational materials on Generative AI and Data Analytics topics
• Deliver engaging courses/seminars/lectures to a variety of targeted audiences
• Collaborate with research teams and the Graduate School in the content creation process
• Contribute to reports and deliverables
• Contribute to proposal preparation, in collaboration with research staff
• Organize, lead and participate in training and support events
• Help increase public awareness and understanding of Generative AI
• Facilitate the establishment of CyI as an Artificial Intelligence Hub

Required Qualifications

• BSC degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related fields
• MSC degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related fields, or MSc degree in Education or related fields
• 2 years of relevant experience
• Proven Ability to teach/train and present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Evidence of independent work in a relevant project or field.
• Some experience with Generative AI tools and processes.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in the English language (written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications (not mandatory)

• PhD in Computer Science or Engineering or related fields.
• Experience in the design and development of educational material.
• Proficiency in using various presentation tools.
• Familiarity with the educational sector.
• Previous experience in a research/academic institution.
• Prior experience in writing technical reports or educational materials.
• A portfolio showcasing relevant projects and experience in the field.
