With its 1,500+ strong actuarial community of professionals, PwC's global actuarial services team has a leading role in the industry, helping clients act decisively on their most important issues. There is an exciting opportunity to become part of a fast growing and high calibre PwC actuarial team in Cyprus and contribute insurance advice and consulting services to clients such as insurers, regulators and financial institutions.

We are seeking entry level and experienced Actuarial professionals up to Manager level to join our practice.You’ll work on IFRS 17 / Solvency II, Assurance, Reserving, Pricing, Risk and Capital projects across the Non-Life / Life insurance market, as well as multidisciplinary projects around areas such as transaction due diligence, analytics, strategic planning and transformation. You’ll be open to new challenges, self-motivated, agile and be able to leverage your existing skills by assisting the development of actuarial and statistical solutions to specific business problems.

Main responsibilities

  • Provide actuarial consulting services including reserving, pricing, risk and capital modelling and other multidisciplinary assignments.
  • Provide audit support in the assessment of client reserve balances and actuarial processes in accordance with both accounting and actuarial standards.
  • Work on exciting assignments with international teams and with our overseas member firm network.
  • Interact with clients, often as the main point of contact on assignments.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of actuarial techniques and procedures and apply them to work products.

Acting as a Manager/Assistant Manager, ideal candidates will:

  • Manage and deliver a wide range of concurrent actuarial and multidisciplinary assignments.
  • Have an active role in supporting the strategic management and running of the actuarial practice, e.g. through being involved in developing one of our core product areas such as pricing and reserving, risk and capital, analytics and developing and presenting training programs for graduates and staff.
  • Be involved in the development of more junior staff through on the job coaching, or acting as a career coach, or study mentor.

What we are looking for

Entry level Actuarial Consultants

  • Be a new student member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) or an equivalent body, or a University degree graduate in actuarial, mathematics, statistics, finance or in any other numerical-based subject.
  • Proven strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Experienced Actuarial Consultants

  • Be a partly-qualified/newly qualified Actuary or have successfully delivered significant actuarial related projects from within the insurance industry.
  • Have led actuarial or multidisciplinary projects, being responsible for project management and delivery, including the management, development and growth of staff, delegation of responsibilities and delivering projects to time and budget.
  • Good understanding of a broad range of commonly used reserving, pricing and capital modelling techniques, the key actuarially-orientated and regulatory issues faced by the market, and a good working knowledge of one or more of financial reporting, risk and capital, Solvency II, IFRS17 or other related insurance work.
  • Experience in Pricing, Solvency II / IFRS 17, or related experience, would be a benefit.
  • Experience with software such as R, Python, SAS, VBA, Tableau, Power BI would be a benefit.
  • Be able to communicate complex technical matters in a clear way.
  • Wider commercial awareness, including the understanding of wider business issues facing the insurance industry.
