The Island Private School of Limassol in Cyprus opened for the first 500 students in September 2022, and is now looking for a competent, experienced and, above all, passionate IB MYP Mathematics Teacher to join the team for the current academic year and continue for 2023-2024 as our students’ number will double in size.

We are also in the process of building our new school campus on a beautiful 50,000 m2 site which is to be completed approximately by the end of 2025 and will include kindergarten, elementary and high school, an international boarding school, and accommodation for teachers. This is a great opportunity to join a growing school on the cusp of a major turning point.

Cyprus regulations require applicants to have a university degree in Mathematics recognised by KY.S.A.T.S. (The Cyprus Council of Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications) and the ability to pass a background check.

The Position:

General responsibilities:

  • Work with staff and pupils in the Secondary section of the school, with responsibility to introduce and develop the concepts, processes, and skills of the subject curriculum.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments for use in teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the development of their subject curriculum.
  • Any other appropriate duties as allocated by the STEAM Coordinator, Secondary Principal or Head of School.
  • Any other subject-specific appropriate responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the school’s extra-curricular programme.
  • Adhere to all school policies and regulations.
  • Establish and develop close relationships with parents and the community, specifically building and maintaining relationships with other relevant people and agencies.
  • Communicate effectively (both written and verbal) to a variety of audiences.
  • Conduct themselves with respect and dignity to all members of the Island Private School community.
  • At all times, consider themselves responsible for the behaviour, safety, well-being, and safeguarding of students under their care.
  • At the end of every academic year, they are responsible for identifying the resources needed for the successful implementation of instruction in the following year, communicating these requirements to the school administration and upon receiving these resources to maintain and keep these resources in good condition for their intended use.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mathematics (KY.S.A.T.S. approval required). Additional degrees would be considered an advantage.
  • Professional Educator Diploma or other teacher qualification if available (e.g. QTS, PGCE).
  • Has lower secondary school teaching experience
  • Has IB MYP/DP experience
  • Is fluent English – minimum C1 level
  • Familiar with technology use in teaching and learning.
  • Is compassionate and attentive to students; knows how children learn and can support their learning.
  • Is an adaptable and inspiring educator, with the ability to deliver a coherent, balanced, integrated, inquiry-based programme; capable of preparing students for international programmes in a stimulating, challenging and well organised learning environment.
  • Has the professional responsibility for providing, leading, and facilitating diverse and effective learning experiences using a range of methods and approaches in a supportive and positive climate across the secondary school.
  • Is flexible, creative, innovative and be able to collaborate with colleagues both in the secondary division and in the broader community of the school.
  • Is familiar with international settings and adaptable to multicultural environments
