CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an established and expanding Electronic Money Institution licensed by the Central Bank of Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit a Lead Java Developer to join their team based in Nicosia. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading, managing and growing our clients local Java development team. You should be educated to degree level in Computer Science or a related field and possess approximately 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience, with 2+ years of previous experience managing, mentoring and leading teams of less experienced developers. Any software development experience from the Cards and/or Payments industry will be considered an advantage and fluency in both verbal and written English is a must. 

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage and grow a local Java development team.
• Develop and assess the performance and development of team members.
• Participate in the technical leadership team with other technical leaders, the engineering manager, and the CTO.
• Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating technology policies & procedures.
• Experience in coordinating an interfacing with other Leads.
• Work with the business, and broader technology team to agree software specifications and standards.
• Manage the entire software development lifecycle for software, platforms, and tools.
• Plan & scope projects, estimate resource requirements, manage timelines and delivery.
• Improve and maintain automation and CI/CD in and around the development process.
• Work with other software and DevOps teams to operate customer facing services.
• Develop and maintain tools and processes to maintain a minimum of 99.5% uptime.
• Improve and maintain automated management and monitoring of services.
• Participate in incident responses and remediation.

Key Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology or Computer Science.
• 5+ years of experience in mission critical software development including API management, vendor integration, and third-party certification.
• 2+ years of experience in managing a software development team.
• 5+ years of experience in Java, especially in Spring Boot working with REST, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Track record of delivery including technical decision making.
• Cloud IaaS, especially Amazon Web Services knowledge is highly desirable.
• Any previous experience with Cards, Payments, Core Banking technology is highly desirable.
