The Island Private School of Limassol in Cyprus is opening in September 2022 and looking for an experienced School Psychologist.

We are in the process of planning our new school campus on a beautiful 50,000 m2 site that will include kindergartens, elementary and high schools, an international boarding school, and accommodation for teachers. Core Purpose:

The core purpose of this position is to evaluate and diagnose students that require specific psychoeducational services across all age ranges at ISB. In support of the inclusive nature of ISL’s Mission, the School Psychologist plays a vital role in ensuring that ISL offers students the best possible levels of programmatic support, by ensuring that all members of the team have a deep understanding of the individual needs of each child receiving support.

 

1. Leading Learning

The School Psychologist is expected to:

  1. Use a variety of psychoeducational assessment methods/tests appropriate for screening purposes to investigate the learning profile of students identified as not making expected learning progress.
  2. Support the admissions process by reviewing applications and making recommendations and by
  3. Providing screening assessments for individual students to determine their relative strengths and weaknesses as learners and determine what interventions need to be put in place to ensure their success as learners reviewing application documents for students who may qualify for learning support services
  4. Use all available data to generate learning questions related to students or groups of students not achieving learning expectations.
  5. Be responsible for the professional development of staff and parents in the area of learning differences and related pedagogy to support successful student learning.

 

2. Communication

The School Psychologist is expected to:

  1. Support parents and teachers in understanding the individual learning profiles of students with learning differences.
  2. Provide teachers with information from the results of screening assessments and what this means in terms of the students’ needs as a learner.
  3. Provide universal screenings for students in the early years, to determine what early interventions should be put in place to ensure students' success as learners
  4.  Provide teachers with information from the results of comprehensive diagnostic psychoeducational assessments completed by external psychologists
  5. Attend and participate in Student Support Team Meetings

 

3. Professional Responsibilities

The School Psychologist is expected to:

  1. Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development.
  2. Share commitment to the IB and ISL mission and vision.
  3. Contribute to the on-going development of the school.
  4. Participate in team planning and collaborative activity.
  5. Maintain constructive and professional relationships with staff and parents.
  6. Model the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.
  7. Support community related activities in the promotion of the ‘life of the school’.
