Job Purpose

The incumbent holding this role has the overall responsibility for the efficient, timely, cost and quality effective execution of the project or component of a project under the directions of the Project Manager

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensures the project’s smooth operations at all times
• Coordinates the project site activities under the directions of the Project Manager in all respects liaising with the client stakeholders, the project consultants and the project team members, including the site foreman, land and quantity surveyors, operators and workers
• Checks drawings and quantities in coordination with the Procurement and Estimating units and ensures that the calculations are accurate for the work
• Assists with the selection and requisition of materials in coordination with the Procurement and Estimating units and agreeing on the price of the items according to the project budget/costings
• Responsible for communicating and arranging for the necessary plant, material and labour requirements
• Responsible for the overall site supervision of the works and execution of the project in line with the project timeline, cost and key milestones
• Prepares schedules of works and enquiries for procurement of materials and subcontractors, where required
• Monitors daily work productions, material stocks and carries out materials reconciliations in coordination with the Plant and the storekeeper
• Prepares site progress report and submits it to the Project Manager as required
• Controls, and coordinates the works of subcontractors and reports on their progress and or trends for problems/delays to Project Manager
• Attends regular meetings with clients, subcontractors, and keeping them informed of the project progress
• Resolves any unexpected technical difficulties, and other problems that may arise
• Maintains accurate records for QA and QC
• Responsible for Waste Management according to the quality controls and health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures
• Implements and promotes Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Management policies and procedures, including the implementation of the obligations undertaken by the Principal Contractor under the specific contract, where applicable
• Co-operates with the assigned Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Officer/Representative and ensures that his/her recommendations for control measures are implemented accordingly
• Develops and maintains an understanding of the contract documents, appropriate codes, standards and specifications
• Ensures the implementation of the procedures detailed in the project quality plans and method statements to ensure finished product is compliant with the contract documents
• Prepares and submits, when required the Quality, Health, Safety, Security and the Environment (QHSSE) Management Plan for each project and input information for the preparation of QHSSE Management Plan
• Observes the Statutory, Contractual and Company requirements with regards to Quality, Health, Safety, Security and the Environment and abides by any rules applicable to his/her scope of work

Specific Requirements 

• Civil Engineer with minimum 5 years exeperience in Civil Works
• Civil Engineer with minimum 5 years experience in Buildings
