On behalf of our client, a well-established company operating in the food, beverage and catering industry, we are seeking to recruit an Accounting Department Head (CR/16) for full time employment.

Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the role entails the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise the accounting department on all activities
  • Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation
  • Prepare detailed journal entries and account analysis
  • Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax/VAT returns
  • Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
  • Interacts at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting
  • Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
  • Supervising, coaching and developing junior team members

The successful candidate should have: 

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a managerial position within an accounting function with high volume of data and transactions in the industry, is a must
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Ability to work autonomously and prudency in calculating risks
  • IT literacy with excellent knowledge and experience of Outlook/Excel/Word
  • Fluency in both Greek and English, verbal and written
  • Integrity, judgement and a high level of responsibility
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
