Location : eHealthLab, Computer Science Department, University of Cyprus, Nicosia
The Department of Computer Science announces up to 4 full time/part-time Special Scientist (Software Developers) positions. More specifically, the following positions are available:

• Full Stack Software Developer (5+ years of experience)
• Senior Back-end Software Developer (5+ years of experience)
• Senior Front-end Software Developer (5+ years of experience)
• Front-end Software Developer (3+ years of experience)

The eHealthLab is seeking to recruit highly motivated individuals, to join its growing team of professional software developers/ engineers. Successful candidates will be engaged in the development of electronic health systems and services primarily within the context of recently awarded eHealth4U: Integrated National Health Ecosystem and CY-Biobank: Biobanking and the Cyprus Human Genome Project projects. The objective will be to design and develop the next generation of Electronic Health Record (EHR) at a National scale and associate services, including biobanking software infrastructure, mobile health applications, and data analytics modules, in the context of the eHelathLab’s mission and envisioned eHealth ecosystem.
Over the past twenty years, the eHealthLab has participated in numerous projects funded by the Research Innovation Foundation of Cyprus (RIF), the European Commission, and the other international bodies, including the National Science Foundation (NSF), USA, with a total funding managed of more than 12 million Euros. The lab hosts a multidisciplinary team of experts across science and engineering with a strong background on eHealth and mHealth, Medical Imaging, Computational Intelligence for data analytics, and Life Sciences Informatics. It has a solid collaboration in these areas with members of the quadruple helix such as the Ministry of Health, Cyprus, public and private hospitals and clinics, patients’ associations and industry partners, including international medical centers.
The positions are located at the eHealthLab (www.ehealthlab.cs.ucy.ac.cy) premises of the Department of Computer Science, University of Cyprus, and involves occasional travel, primarily within the EU, for both coordination and dissemination activities.

JOB TITLE: Senior Back-End Software Developer

Duties

• Design, develop and test high quality software using Agile methodologies.
• Work on new functionality in line with stakeholders’ requirements and timelines.
• Collaborate with the Project Coordinator(s), Principal Investigators, team leaders, and team members for the effective completion of tasks within time, scope and budget.
• Work on the eHealthlab’s internal projects.
• Contribute towards materializing the eHealthLab’s mission of delivering citizen-centered healthcare.
• Report to the eHealthLab Director and Senior Project Coordinator(s).

Responsibilities / Technical Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, client-server architecture, 3-Tier Layer and SOLID principles.
• 5+ years of software development experience with Java/C#.
• Solid experience with JSON/XML and REST technologies.
• Solid experience with SQL and ability to handle complex SQL statements, triggers, store procedures and functions.
• Quality minded and knowledgeable of software testing techniques (e.g. writing unit tests).
• Knowledge of version control principles and experience with Git, GitLab or other version control system.

Academic and Professional Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Computer Science or any other related Information Technology field.
• Verbal and written fluency in English.
• Team player and ability to work within a multicultural environment.
• Ability to work within the context of a cross-functional team.
• Autonomous in carrying out work & flexibility towards the range of tasks.
• Excellent communication, planning and organization skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Willing and open to take on new tasks and challenges.
• Minimum 5 years' experience and proven senior systems developer level.

Following Skills are an Advantage

• Experience with Java Spring framework will be considered as add on Experience with NoSQL (Mongo dB, MySQL X DevAPI).
• Experience with Apache Spark for data analytics.
• Experience with issue tracking systems such as Jira (Atlassian).
• Ability to work with remote teams/stakeholders.
• Experience in working within a multicultural environment.
• Professional Certifications.

JOB TITLE: Senior Front-end Software Developer

Duties

Responsibilities / Technical Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience with front end technologies HTML5/CCS3/JavaScript.
• Good knowledge of JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React.js, Angular, AngularJS).
• Solid experience with XML and REST technologies.
• Knowledge of version control principles and experience with Git, GitLab or other version control system.

Academic and Professional Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Computer Science or any other related Information Technology field.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS
The positions are on a contract basis of two years with possibility of renewal. The monthly salary is set between €2000 and €4500 (employer cost) depending on the candidate’s qualifications and expertise. From this amount, employee and employer contributions will be deducted. The position does not include a 13th salary bonus.
The employee will have the right to outpatient medical coverage (GHS) as of 01/06/2019 and shall contribute as of their date of employment 1,7% of their monthly gross earnings (as of 01/03/2020 this percentage shall increase to 2.65%).
Additionally, the Employee may join the Private Medical Scheme for an additional cost of 3,95% of their monthly gross salary (provided that the total working time is over 18 hours per week).
Maternity leave will be granted based on Social Insurance Laws from 1980 until 2012.
