The University of Limassol is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and forward-thinking professional to join its leadership team as Director of IT, providing strategic direction and leadership for the University’s technology, digital transformation, and IT operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and overall direction for the University’s IT function, ensuring technology effectively supports academic, research, administrative, and strategic objectives.
  • Develop and implement the University’s IT strategy, digital transformation roadmap, technology architecture, and investment priorities.
  • Supervise and manage the entire IT team, ensuring effective performance, accountability, professional development, and efficient resource allocation.
  • Lead and maintain overall responsibility for the University’s IT operations and technology environment, including infrastructure, networks, cybersecurity, cloud services, systems, applications, software, digital platforms, endpoints, identity and access management, and technical support.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for all software, applications, platforms, and information systems used by the University, including evaluation, selection, implementation, configuration, integration, licensing,security, maintenance, upgrades, access control, data flows, and lifecycle management.
  • Provide technical leadership and senior-level support for complex IT issues, incidents, system failures, integrations, and security events, ensuring timely diagnosis, resolution, and root-cause analysis.
  • Oversee identity and access management, cloud services, user accounts, authentication, permissions, and endpoint management, ensuring secure and efficient access to University systems and resources.
  • Lead the University’s cybersecurity function, including security architecture and controls, vulnerability management, monitoring, incident response, data protection, risk management, and security awareness.
  • Establish and maintain IT governance, policies, standards, business continuity, and disaster recovery frameworks, ensuring compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and University requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective IT service management processes, service levels, incident and problem management, and performance standards to ensure reliable and responsive technology services across the University.
  • Advise on technology investments, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, AI, digital transformation, and opportunities for innovation and operational improvement.
  • Manage the IT budget, procurement, vendors, contracts, and technology investments, ensuring value for money and alignment with University priorities.
  • Lead major IT projects, system implementations, integrations, and digital transformation initiatives, ensuring effective delivery, technical quality, stakeholder engagement, and alignment with the University’s strategic objectives.
  • Ensure that IT services effectively support the needs of students, faculty, researchers, administrative staff, and University leadership, balancing reliability, security, usability, and cost.
  • Monitor IT performance, service quality, user satisfaction, risks, and compliance, and provide regular reports to Management.
  • Ensure effective collaboration between IT and all University departments and provide leadership during major technology incidents, cybersecurity events, and operational disruptions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • 7+ years of relevant IT experience, including senior management experience.
  • Proven experience in IT strategy, digital transformation, cybersecurity, infrastructure, systems, and software management.
  • Strong leadership and experience supervising and developing IT teams.
  • Experience managing IT budgets, projects, vendors, and technology services.
  • Knowledge of IT governance, data protection, risk management, and business continuity.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in both English and Greek, written and spoken.
