Shape the Future of Technology-Enabled Audit

KPMG in Cyprus is seeking an accomplished Lead IT Audit Professional to provide technical, operational and audit-quality leadership across our portfolio of technology-enabled audit engagements. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced professional who can combine deep technology-risk expertise with strong audit judgment, disciplined delivery and the ability to inspire high-performing teams.

Technology now sits at the center of financial reporting, business resilience and stakeholder trust. The successful candidate will help us assess increasingly complex IT environments, including cloud platforms, outsourced services, automated controls, cyber risks, system implementations, data flows and emerging technologies. The role will work closely with Audit Partners, engagement teams, senior client stakeholders and specialists across the KPMG network.

The Opportunity:

  • Lead the planning, scoping, execution, review and completion of IT audit work across a diverse portfolio of audit engagements.
  • Determine and challenge the appropriate IT audit approach, ensuring that procedures are responsive to identified risks and provide sufficient appropriate audit evidence.
  • Oversee work relating to IT general controls, automated application controls, IT-dependent controls, system-generated information, interfaces, data migration, service organizations and relevant cybersecurity matters.
  • Identify, evaluate and communicate technology risks, control deficiencies and their implications for the financial statement audit.
  • Provide timely, pragmatic and technically robust advice to Audit Partners, engagement teams and senior client stakeholders.
  • Supervise and review engagements to a consistently high standard, while managing scope, quality, budgets, resources, milestones and competing priorities.
  • Lead, coach and develop IT audit professionals, fostering professional skepticism, collaboration, accountability and continuous learning.
  • Champion the effective use of approved audit technology, data analytics and emerging tools to enhance audit quality, productivity and insight.
  • Contribute to methodology, quality monitoring, risk management, training, recruitment, market development and the continued growth of the IT Audit practice.
  • Build trusted relationships across functions and the international KPMG network, mobilizing specialist support where required.

The Requirements:

  • University degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Accounting, Finance, Engineering or any other related discipline.
  • A recognized professional qualification such as CISA, CISM, CISSP, CRISC, CIA, ACA, ACCA or an equivalent credential will be considered an advantage.
  • Minimum 6 years of significant progressive experience in external IT audit, technology risk, digital assurance or a closely related field, including substantial leadership and review responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of IT general controls, application controls, technology-enabled business processes, system interfaces, reports, data and third-party service arrangements.
  • Sound understanding of how technology risks and controls affect financial reporting and the external audit approach.
  • Experience in financial services, listed entities, complex ERP environments, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, data analytics or major technology change will be considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex engagements, lead multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Greek and English languages (written and spoken).

Personal Characteristics/Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technology environments and identify key risks.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a consistent focus on quality, accuracy and professional standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex IT and audit matters clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership and people development, with the ability to effectively lead, coach and develop IT Audit team members.
  • Sound professional judgment, particularly when assessing technology risks, audit implications and appropriate responses.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with financial audit engagement teams and other stakeholders.
  • Client-focused and relationship-oriented, with the ability to establish credibility and maintain effective relationships with senior-level clients.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with the ability to identify issues early and recommend practical and effective solutions.
