Job Summary:

The Junior IT Support & Systems Officer is responsible for providing first-line technical support to employees, assisting with day-to-day IT issues, supporting the maintenance and operation of IT equipment and systems, and ensuring that incidents and service requests are properly recorded and managed through the Company’s ticketing system.

The role is intended for an individual who has a good foundation in IT, a genuine interest in developing their technical skills, and the willingness to learn and grow within the Company’s IT environment. As knowledge and experience develop, the successful candidate will progressively take on broader technical responsibilities under the guidance of more experienced members of the IT team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. User Support

  • Provide first-level technical support to employees via phone, email, Microsoft Teams and in person.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving common hardware, software, printer, network and access-related issues.
  • Assist users with Microsoft 365 applications, Windows, mobile devices and Company systems.
  • Follow established troubleshooting procedures and seek guidance from senior IT staff when required.
  • Escalate unresolved or more complex issues appropriately.
  • Follow up with users to ensure issues have been appropriately resolved.

2. Ticket Management

  • Log, update, prioritise and close support tickets through the Company’s ticketing system.
  • Ensure incidents and service requests are accurately documented.
  • Respond to first-line requests in accordance with agreed service targets and Company procedures.
  • Escalate unresolved issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain clear communication with users regarding ticket status and progress.

3. IT Equipment Management

  • Assist with the preparation and deployment of laptops, desktops, monitors, mobile phones and other peripherals.
  • Install and configure operating systems and approved software in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate IT asset and inventory records.
  • Assist with hardware replacements, upgrades and routine maintenance.

4. User Account Administration

  • Assist with the creation, modification and disabling of user accounts in accordance with approved procedures and authorisation levels.
  • Assist users with password resets and MFA enrolment.
  • Assist with user permissions in accordance with approved access controls and Company policies.
  • Escalate access-related matters requiring additional approval or technical intervention.

5. Documentation

  • Assist in maintaining IT procedures, user guides and knowledge-base articles.
  • Document recurring issues and their solutions where appropriate.
  • Support the maintenance of accurate technical and system documentation.

6. IT Security and General Support

  • Follow Company IT security, data protection and access-control policies at all times.
  • Identify and promptly escalate suspected cybersecurity incidents, phishing attempts, unusual system behaviour or potential security concerns.
  • Support employees in following appropriate cybersecurity practices.
  • Assist with IT-related onboarding and offboarding activities.
  • Support meeting-room technology and video-conferencing systems.
  • Assist with IT projects, system implementations and other IT-related activities as required.
  • Perform other relevant duties assigned by the IT Manager.

Mandatory Requirements:

1. Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or another relevant field.
  • Relevant technical certifications and/or demonstrable practical IT knowledge may also be considered.

2. Technical Knowledge

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10/11.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware and common peripherals.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi and VPN.
  • Basic understanding of IT helpdesk processes and ticketing systems.
  • General awareness of cybersecurity principles and good IT security practices.

3. Personal Skills

  • Good problem-solving aptitude and a logical approach to identifying and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Good communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical matters clearly to non-technical users.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple requests with appropriate guidance.
  • Professional, responsible and service-oriented attitude.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge.
  • Ability to follow procedures, instructions and guidance from more experienced team members.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Other Requirements:

  • Fluency in Greek and English.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between Company locations when required.

Preferred Requirements:

The following would be considered an advantage but are not essential requirements for appointment:

  • Previous internship or up to 1–2 years of experience in an IT support or helpdesk environment.
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Administration.
  • Basic knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Familiarity with Azure, SharePoint and Teams administration.
  • Experience with remote-support tools.
  • Basic exposure to virtualisation technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware.
  • Familiarity with endpoint-management solutions such as Intune, NinjaOne or SCCM.
  • Basic understanding of backup and disaster-recovery concepts.
  • Basic awareness of firewalls and network security.
  • Exposure to ticketing systems such as Jira, Freshservice, ServiceDesk Plus, Zendesk or similar.

Preferred Certifications:

Any of the following would be considered an advantage:

  • Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900)
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • ITIL Foundation
