The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management and performance of the Housekeeping Department, ensuring that guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation and hygiene. Our client is seeking applicants who possess previous management or senior supervisory experience within a hotel Housekeeping Department, with a good understanding of cleaning chemicals, equipment and health & safety requirements. Good communication skills and working knowledge of English is essential. Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise the daily operation of the Housekeeping Department, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation throughout the hotel.
- Lead, train, motivate and monitor Housekeeping employees, ensuring compliance with hotel procedures, service standards and grooming requirements.
- Ensure all guest rooms are cleaned, inspected and released according to established standards and operational requirements.
- Coordinate closely with Front Office regarding room status, priorities, early arrivals, late departures, VIPs, special requests and room discrepancies.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, corridors, public areas and back-of-house areas and implement corrective actions when required.
- Prepare staff schedules and daily allocations according to occupancy, departures, arrivals and operational requirements while maintaining effective payroll and productivity control.
- Establish and monitor productivity standards for room attendants and other Housekeeping personnel without compromising quality.
- Coordinate closely with the Maintenance Department to identify, report and follow up on defects, damages and preventative maintenance requirements.
- Manage linen, towels, uniforms, guest supplies, cleaning materials and Housekeeping equipment, ensuring appropriate stock levels and effective inventory controls.
- Control departmental expenditure, consumption of supplies and operating costs in accordance with approved budgets.
- Ensure correct handling, storage and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with health & safety procedures and manufacturer instructions.
- Maintain appropriate procedures for lost and found items and ensure accurate documentation and secure storage.
Key Skills/Experience:
- Previous management or senior supervisory experience within a hotel Housekeeping Department.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of hotel housekeeping standards and procedures.
- Strong organisational, planning and inventory-control abilities.
- Good understanding of cleaning chemicals, equipment and health & safety requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistently high cleanliness standards.
- Ability to manage a large team and operate effectively during periods of high occupancy.
- Good communication skills and working knowledge of English.
