Software Engineer (SQL & Java)

About the team:

We are part of the PRIME Technology Core team, working at the heart of financial services technology. Our team builds, maintains, and evolves mission-critical payment software using Java Spring Boot/Batch, Oracle PL/SQL, and modern DevOps tools. We operate within an Agile framework, collaborating closely across disciplines in an open and supportive environment.

What you will be doing:

Our Software Engineers are responsible for coding, debugging, maintaining, supporting, implementing and validating applications whilst collaborating and communicating with appropriate parties. They will further maintain and utilize application and programming documents in the development of code, recommend changes in development, maintenance and system standards, and create appropriate deliverables and develop application implementation plans throughout the life cycle. The key responsibilities of the role will be:

● Developing code for TSYS Software independently or with support from Team Leader using various tools and owning responsibility for quality assurance of their development.

● Solving client software issues and supporting the client software life cycle.

● Performing corrective measures for code deficiencies and escalating more complex issues as necessary.

● Following established coding standards and development best practices.

● Work with Agile framework methodology and participate in Agile ceremonies.

● Learning from experienced engineers and gradually increasing ownership of solutions and technical deliverables.

What you bring:

● 0-4+ years experience with hands-on software developing and testing.

● Educated to degree level (e.g. BSc, MSc, B Tech) in an IT related subject such as Computer Science or MIS.

● Good knowledge of Java Spring Boot/Spring Batch gained through academic, personal or professional projects. .

● Good understanding of Object-Oriented programming concepts.

● Coding skills in the procedural language for at least one database engine.

● Basic Knowledge of Database Concepts and SQL.

● Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.

● Flexibility to occasionally work as part of a rotational 24 hour on-call programme.

● Flexibility (in the future) to travel to client premises and undertake payment scheme certifications, onsite installation and client training, user acceptance testing support, act as floor walker and software expert during client visitations.

Added bonus if you have:

● Basic Knowledge on UNIX/Linux Operating Systems.

● Technical skills in Oracle Database Development (i.e., PL/SQL), Oracle Performance Tuning.

● Knowledge to DevOps tools like Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes etc.

● Knowledge to Cloud environments, AWS.

● Kafka distributed events steaming.

● Good knowledge and understanding of REST API’s.

● AI skills and capabilities.

FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is EUR 27,550.00 – 35,820.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
