SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
Perform engineering duties related to the planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and refrigeration systems. Oversee centralized heating, gas, water, and steam systems, and install and maintain industrial and commercial refrigeration equipment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, maintain, perform preventive maintenance on, and recommend replacement of tools, appliances, and equipment.
- Repair plumbing issues, including unclogging drains.
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings.
- Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air to detect and locate leaks.
- Review blueprints, building codes, and technical specifications.
- Study building plans and inspect structures to plan installations.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to the required angle.
- Install and maintain pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances, and fixtures.
- Perform miscellaneous maintenance and repair work.
- Carry out preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Calibrate controls, gauges, meters, and related equipment.
- Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves.
- Order, label, and stock parts and supplies as required.
- Maintain inventory records and purchase order logs.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and machinery to ensure proper operation.
- Enter and retrieve work-related information using computer systems.
- Operate power lifts safely.
- Complete life safety inspections, including fire pump and generator run tests.
- Inspect fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems.
- Observe and test refrigeration and mechanical system performance using gauges and instruments.
- Adjust valves according to specifications and charge systems with the correct refrigerant.
- Test lines, components, and connections for leaks.
- Adjust or replace worn or defective parts and reassemble repaired systems.
- Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment.
- Braze or solder components to repair defective joints and leaks.
- Perform mechanical overhauls and refrigerant recovery.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, replacements, and equipment malfunctions.
- Install expansion and control valves using appropriate tools.
- Install electrical wiring to connect equipment to power sources.
- Mount compressors, condensers, and other components using hand tools and welding equipment.
- Fabricate and assemble structural and functional components of refrigeration systems.
- Drill holes and install mounting brackets and hangers on walls and floors.
- Insulate system shells and cabinets.
- Follow all company safety and security procedures, report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, and injuries, complete required safety training, and ensure proper storage of flammable materials.
- Estimate, order, collect, deliver, and install materials and supplies needed to keep equipment in good working condition.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required by management.
- Be familiar with:

- Hotel Security Procedures.
- Hotel facilities and attractions.
- Hotel Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Hotel operational standards and departmental procedures.
- Methods of payment accepted by the company (cash handling staff only).
- Current licensing regulations (Food & Beverage Service department only).
- Adhere to the company's policies and procedures relating to quality, environmental management, and food safety.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position within the hotel industry.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while adhering to hotel Standard Operating Procedures.
- Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Strong working knowledge of hotel kitchen and refrigeration equipment.
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
