CareerFinders Recruitment Services LtdCareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a leading Hospitality Group with operations in Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their growing team based in Larnaca and Ayia Napa. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for supporting the financial operations of the Group Hotels and Resorts by ensuring accurate financial records, effective cost control, and timely financial reporting. Our client is seeking applicants who are ideally educated to degree level in a relevant field of study, and holders of any relevant accounting qualification are welcome to apply. You will need to possess approximately 3+ years of experience in a relevant position, with any prior exposure to the Hospitality sector considered a strong advantage, but not essential. You will need to be fluent in both Greek and English, and hold a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and cost control. An attractive remuneration and benefits package is on offer, based on skills and experience. This role will be based at our client’s headquarters in Ayia Napa, with occasional visits to their offices in Larnaca for work purposes. Working hours are from 08:30 – 17:15 Monday to Thursday, and from 08:30 – 17:30 each Friday.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and timely accounting records for all hotel operations, including rooms revenue, food & beverage, events, and ancillary services.
- Record and process invoices, payments, accruals, and expenses in line with hotel accounting standards and company policies.
- Perform daily revenue reconciliation by matching Property Management System (PMS) reports, Point of Sale (POS) systems, cash, credit card transactions, and third-party platforms (e.g. delivery companies and online booking channels).
- Perform bank, supplier, and Payment Service Providers (PSP) reconciliations.
- Prepare and provide a weekly revenue report to the Management.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports related to hotel performance.
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts, profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements to the Group Head of Finance and hotel management.
- Monitor and analyze operating costs related to departments such as F&B, housekeeping, maintenance, and front office, identifying variances and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support inventory control processes for food, beverages, operating supplies, and housekeeping items, ensuring accurate stock valuation.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing historical data, trend analysis, and departmental insights.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with local regulations and ensure proper tax compliance and handle VAT refund claims.
- Manage petty cash, including reconciliations and reporting.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting documentation and reconciling accounts.
- Collaborate with hotel department heads to ensure financial controls are followed and financial data is accurately reflected.
- Conduct fixed asset verification and stocktaking procedures (for audit purposes only).
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial information, hotel data, and company records, ensuring compliance with internal policies and professional standards at all times.
- Carry out any additional accounting or finance-related duties assigned by the Company or Management, in line with the scope of the role and operational needs.
- Lead, manage, and develop the team to ensure high performance and continuous professional growth.
- Allocate tasks to the team and set timelines to be able to meet regulatory and internal deadlines.
Key Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in hotel or hospitality accounting will be considered a strong advantage.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and hospitality cost control.
- Knowledge of VAT regulations and reporting requirements.
- Experience with accounting software (Soft+1); experience with hotel Property Management System (PMS) and Point of Sale (POS) systems is an advantage.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced hotel environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
