SPECIAL SCIENTIST (Administrative Support Staff) – Energy Training and Programme Development

The PV Technology Laboratory at the University of Cyprus invites applications for one (1) position of Special Scientist (Administrative Support Staff), offered on either a part-time or full-time basis. The successful candidate will contribute to the research activities of the laboratory in the field of renewable energy, with a particular focus on photovoltaic and battery systems, solar analytics and forecasting, system development, operation and control strategies, and flexibility including demand-side management. It should be noted that one (1) month of full-time employment at the University of Cyprus corresponds to 140 working hours.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
➢ Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related Engineering field, with a grade of at least a 2.1 class or equivalent.
➢ Strong background in electrical power systems, renewable energy technologies, or energy systems engineering.
➢ Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.
➢ Doctoral degree (PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, or a related engineering discipline.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
➢ Experience in developing and delivering educational or training material in electrical engineering or energy-related subjects.
➢ Experience in the organization and coordination of vocational training programmes in electrical engineering or related fields.
➢ Experience in the organization and implementation of Erasmus or other European educational programmes.
➢ Knowledge of renewable energy systems, smart grids, or demand-side management technologies.
➢ Experience in quality assurance procedures in education or training programmes.
➢ Previous participation in national or European funded projects related to engineering education, training, or energy systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
➢ Supporting the implementation and coordination of programmes and related educational activities.
➢ Contributing to the development and preparation of training and teaching material related to electrical engineering and energy systems.
➢ Assisting in the organization and delivery of training courses, workshops, and educational activities within the programme.
➢ Supporting the quality assurance procedures and monitoring of programme activities.
➢ Contributing to the coordination of Erasmus or other international educational collaborations related to the programme.
➢ Assisting in the preparation of reports, project deliverables, and documentation related to programme activities.
➢ Contributing to the dissemination and communication activities of the project. ➢ Supporting the overall management and coordination of the programme activities when required.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
The position (part-time or full-time) will be offered on a one (1) year contract, with a 6-month probation period, with the possibility of renewal based on performance. The gross monthly salary depends on the candidate's qualifications and experience and will be between €2,200 - €3,800 (based on 140 working hours). From the monthly gross remuneration, the employee’s contributions to the relevant Government Funds will be deducted. The gross remuneration includes the proportional amount of the 13th salary, in accordance with applicable regulations.
