Process & Materials Engineer
NEEMA LabsNEEMA Labs is a deep-tech startup developing sustainable materials made from natural and waste-based ingredients. We are looking for a Process & Materials Engineer to join our core team, lead the transition to pilot-scale, and help establish quality systems that keep our materials consistent and reliable.
Your Role
- Run formulation optimisation experiments with our R&D Scientist and scale up biofilm formulations into pilot processes.
- Design, set up, and optimise processing and production workflows.
- Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance procedures for raw materials and finished products.
- Monitor process parameters and troubleshoot issues affecting yield, consistency, and material performance.
- Create technical documentation, SOPs, and process reports to support production and compliance.
What We’re Looking For
- Master’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering, physical chemistry, polymer science, or another relevant field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in process engineering, ideally including soft material processing, biopolymer processing, and scale-up work.
- Hands-on experience with quality control and assurance for raw materials.
- Comfortable working hands-on in a lab/pilot environment and solving problems as they come up.
- Creativity, strong documentation, analytical, and teamwork skills.
- Interest in sustainability, circular materials, and working in a startup setting.

Compensation and Duration
- Gross monthly salary: €1,600-1900 depending on qualifications and experience.
- Appointment duration: 12 months with the possibility of renewal, depending on performance and availability of funds.
