Our client, one of the largest and most established retail groups in Cyprus, is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to oversee HSEQ standards across multiple sites and ensure a safe, compliant, and high‑performance working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site inspections, walk‑throughs, and checklist reviews to identify hazards and verify the condition of fire extinguishers, safety equipment, and other critical infrastructure.
- Carry out comprehensive risk assessments, recommend corrective actions, and support the development and continuous improvement of action plans.
- Respond to and investigate incidents, determine root causes, and provide expert guidance on preventative measures and long‑term risk mitigation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) systems, policies, and procedures aligned with corporate standards and regulatory requirements.
- Champion and promote HSEQ best practices across all sites, ensuring consistent compliance and a strong safety culture.
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, stand‑ups, and structured training sessions to employees at all levels.
- Establish and enforce cordons and restricted areas when required to ensure safe operations.
- Prepare and present clear, data‑driven management reports on safety performance, incidents, trends, and improvement initiatives.
- Support the coordination and delivery of wider training programmes across the organisation.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or similar).
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification is highly advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within a multi‑site or high‑volume operational environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels and deliver training confidently to large teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving safety issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and positively influence teams to strengthen HSEQ culture.
