The Role

Our Tax Service Line is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager to join our team. In this role, you will work with a diverse portfolio of local and international clients, providing high-quality tax advisory and compliance services while contributing to the continued growth of our practice. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of local and international clients, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality tax compliance and advisory services.
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform tax consultancy assignments, providing practical and commercially focused tax advice.
  • Review tax returns, tax computations, and related compliance deliverables, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to agreed timelines.
  • Support Managers and Partners on tax planning initiatives, restructurings, and other ad hoc advisory projects.
  • Participate in client meetings, confidently addressing queries and presenting solutions to tax matters.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of clients' businesses and tax affairs, identifying risks and opportunities and providing value-added recommendations.
  • Liaise with clients, auditors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to support efficient service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with the Firm's internal procedures, including client take-on requirements, risk management processes, and engagement administration.
  • Demonstrate strong technical tax knowledge by proactively researching technical matters and supporting solutions to complex tax issues when required.
  • Support business development activities by identifying opportunities with existing and prospective clients and promoting the Firm's tax expertise and wider service offerings.
  • Mentor, coach, and supervise junior team members, sharing knowledge and supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Contribute to performance evaluations and provide timely feedback to support junior colleagues' growth and success.
  • Monitor work in progress, budgets, recoverability, invoicing, and collections to help ensure engagements are delivered efficiently and financial targets are achieved.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on client engagements, project status, key developments, and business opportunities, while promoting Grant Thornton's CLEARR values of Collaboration, Leadership, Agility, Respect, and Responsibility.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes for Success
  • A strong drive for success and continuous personal and professional development.
  • A proactive, positive, solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to take ownership of assignments and client relationships.
  • A commitment to Grant Thornton's CLEARR values: Collaboration, Leadership, Excellence, Agility, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • ACCA or ICAEW qualification.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience in professional services (tax, accounting, bookkeeping, audit).
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, Cyprus tax legislation, and local compliance requirements.
  • Experience reviewing management accounts and financial statements.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong client relationship management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Greek and English.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and accounting software.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements, prioritize competing deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing junior team members will be considered an advantage.
