Central Agreements Manager, Nicosia – CAM/10/26

Our client, a well-established retail organisation with a network of supermarkets across Cyprus, is looking for a commercially sharp Central Agreements Manager to join its team in Nicosia, reporting to the Commercial Director. You will own the central agreements across multiple categories, from costing and negotiation through to execution, securing the best possible terms for the network’s stores. Product range selection is handled by a separate team, so your focus will be entirely on the commercial terms.

Duties and Responsibilities

Among other things, you will:
1) Cost and Evaluate Every Agreement

• Cost each agreement and evaluate its commercial terms, including discounts, rebates and promotional funding
• Build a clear, evidence-based picture of the real value each agreement delivers to the network’s stores
• Analyse sales data to identify commercial opportunities and build a strong case ahead of every negotiation

2) Negotiate Better Deals

• Manage a portfolio of local Non-Food and Dry Food suppliers, with the potential to expand to international suppliers at a later stage
• Negotiate and renew central agreements on time, consistently improving terms for the network’s stores
• Secure supplier support for the promotional programme
• Build regular, productive business relationships with key suppliers

3) Manage Agreements Through Execution

• Organise and digitise all agreements in a structured system that allows accurate tracking of terms, deadlines and results
• Monitor every agreement during execution, making sure suppliers honour the agreed terms and stores receive what they are entitled to
• Hand over new terms to the Pricing department on time and in full, ready for entry into the system
• Lead and support the Supervisor who reports to the role

Qualifications

• University degree in Business, Economics or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in commercial negotiations in FMCG retail, as a Buyer or Category Manager in a supermarket or hypermarket chain; retail-side experience is preferred over supplier-side
• Strong ability to cost and evaluate commercial terms such as discounts, rebates and promotional funding
• Proven experience in negotiating significant commercial agreements
• Knowledge of the Cyprus FMCG market will be considered a strong advantage
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn sales data into commercial opportunities
• Very good knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel
• Excellent command of Greek and English
• A dynamic, organised and hands-on approach with a strong commercial orientation
• Flexibility in a changing environment, initiative and the drive to grow the role
• Integrity and respect for control procedures and segregation of duties
• Knowledge of ERP system will be considered an advantage
