What will you do?

The primary purpose of this role is to establish and deliver a dynamic English language curriculum that fosters linguistic proficiency alongside a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of English-speaking countries. You will be key to promoting global literacy within our student body, equipping learners with essential communication skills and a broader worldview necessary for success in an interconnected world.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Teaching & Curriculum Delivery: Plan, teach, and assess high-quality EAL lessons tailored to individual needs across all proficiency levels (beginners to advanced). Develop strategies to enhance reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, providing small-group or one-on-one interventions when necessary.

• Collaboration & Integration: Work alongside classroom teachers to support EAL students across all curriculum areas. Collaborate with coordinators to ensure horizontal and vertical curriculum alignment, and promote a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach.

• Assessment & Feedback: Design and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with MYP, Waldorf, or Cambridge objectives. Provide regular, constructive feedback to students and maintain accurate records of progress to share with parents and colleagues.

• Learning Environment: Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom culture that encourages active participation. Integrate technology and varied educational resources to enhance language engagement.

• Community Engagement: Participate in planning meetings, professional development opportunities, and wider school committees. Organize and facilitate extracurricular clubs, activities, and educational field trips.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, English Language or Literature, TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or a related field.

• Experience: At least 2 years of experience teaching EAL in a mainstream school environment.

• Instructional Skills: Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction for varying language levels and exceptional classroom management skills to create a nurturing environment.

• Core Competencies: Proficiency in integrating technology into language teaching, a positive attitude toward challenging situations, and excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Bonus Skills/Experience

• A recognized teaching qualification (such as PGCE, QTS, or an equivalent certification).

• Direct experience teaching within the IB MYP or Cambridge English frameworks.

• Proficiency in additional languages commonly spoken in our community (such as Russian, Ukrainian, or Hebrew).

• Prior teaching experience within a private school setting.
