Supervise recreational facilities, including pools and beaches, by assisting participants, enforcing safety regulations, and ensuring a secure environment for all swimmers.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform rescues using appropriate techniques when swimmers require assistance.
- Monitor swimming areas for hazards, unsafe behaviors, and struggling swimmers.
- Enforce and promote facility rules and regulations.
- Identify situations where guests may not safely participate in activities and notify the supervisor/manager.
- Provide first aid and assist injured guests until emergency medical services arrive.
- Create a safe, enjoyable, and welcoming environment for guests.
- Handle towels according to company procedures, including collecting, folding, and stacking.
- Maintain cleanliness of the pool deck through washing, mopping, and general upkeep.
- Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management, and complete all required safety training and certifications.
- Follow company safety, security, and operational policies, and promptly report maintenance issues, hazards, or injuries.
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and proper uniform.
- Protect company assets and ensure confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Read and interpret information in various formats, including small print.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and machines to identify potential defects.
- Carry out physical tasks as required, including reaching overhead, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Navigate sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces, as well as stairs and service ramps.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
General Duties
- Follow the Hotel’s internal operating regulations as per the Employee’s Handbook.
- Use the correct standards and methods of service as stated in the Hotel’s operations manuals.
- Follow staff rotas in accordance with business levels and inform your superior of any issues with scheduled working hours.
- Inform your superior when leaving your station/work area for breaks and at the end of the shift.
- Report for duty punctually, wearing the correct uniform and maintaining a perfectly groomed appearance at all times.
- Ensure all checklists and other logbooks are completed, signed, and archived daily.
- Provide professional, courteous, and efficient service to guests and visitors at all times.
- Maintain a good rapport and working relationship with all team members and suppliers.
- Perform duties with maximum efficiency and in a productive manner.
- Assist in the training and development of new recruits/colleagues/subordinates to ensure they have the skills to perform their duties professionally and productively.
- Communicate effectively with relevant colleagues and superiors before, during, and after service/shift regarding service issues, incidents, spillages, spoilage, speed of service, item availability, special/important/challenging guests, and any observations or developments affecting guests, the Hotel’s activities, and/or your post.
- Be proactive in offering cooperation and assistance to other areas/people when they are busier, and inform superiors when doing so.
- Initiate ideas to improve service and encourage colleagues to share their views.
- Instruct colleagues on proper equipment handling and storage to minimize or avoid waste of energy, resources, and/or equipment misuse/breakages.
- Comply with Cyprus legislation and act in accordance with matters relating to the department.
- Respond positively to changes in the department as dictated by the needs of the industry or Hotel operations.
- Attend training/re-training sessions/seminars as required and read training notes to further skills and knowledge.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings/briefings and other related activities.
