The biobank.cy Center of Excellence in Biobanking and Biomedical Research of the University of Cyprus has one opening for a Special Scientist.

biobank.cy Center of Excellence

Established in 2019, the biobank.cy is developing the first Biobank in Cyprus while it aspires to fostering front line research on human genetic diseases and offer better prospects for diagnosis, prevention and therapy, in the framework of precision medicine.

Duties and Responsibilities

∙ Provide high-level operational, and coordination support to the IT, data management, bioinformatics, and research teams.

∙ Support project coordination across EU-funded, national, and institutional projects.

∙ Maintain and organize project documentation, technical reports, meeting records, policies, procedures, presentations, official communications, and compliance-related records.

∙ Facilitate communication between multidisciplinary teams, support shared digital platforms and task-tracking systems, contribute to workflow improvements, and assist with procurement, training, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities.

Requirements

∙ BSc and MSc in Information Technology, Computer Science or related fields.

∙ Excellent organizational, coordination, time- management, and multitasking skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines, meetings, and documentation streams.

∙ Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and collaboration/project management platforms, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, task-tracking tools, or similar systems.

∙ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare professional documents, reports, minutes, presentations, and communications, and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Terms of employment

The position is on a full-time basis for one year with possibility of renewal depending on funding availability. The monthly gross earnings will range depending on qualifications from €1800-€2500. Employee contributions will be deducted from this amount. The program does not provide for the payment of 13th salary.
