The Legal Counsel Role
The Legal Counsel will act as a legal advisor with a primary focus on contracting, regulatory and compliance matters, supporting Deloitte Middle East’s internal legal operations.
The successful candidate’s key responsibilities include the following:
Contracting (Primary Focus)
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts of various nature, including Cloud / Software license agreements, service agreements, leases, NDAs, supplier agreements, and internal firm arrangements.
- Advise internal stakeholders on contractual risk, compliance obligations, and standard terms.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of contract templates, playbooks, and approval processes.
Regulatory, Compliance & Risk (Primary Focus)
- Advise on regulatory and compliance matters affecting firm operations across multiple Middle East jurisdictions.
- Monitor and interpret changes in laws, regulations, and professional services requirements, and assess their impact on the firm.
- Support implementation of internal policies, governance frameworks, and compliance standards in line with Deloitte Middle East and global requirements.
- Respond to regulatory inquiries, support audits, and assist in managing interactions with regulators and authorities.
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Quality & Ethics, and leadership to ensure consistent application of regulatory obligations.
General Legal Advisory (Generalist Role)
- Provide day-to-day legal support on a broad range of operational, commercial, and governance-related matters affecting the firm.
- Assess legal risk and propose pragmatic, business-aligned solutions.
- Support firm-wide legal initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Corporate Affairs Support (when required)
- Support corporate matters such as:
- Drafting and reviewing resolutions, powers of attorney, and corporate documentation.
- Assisting with entity compliance, filings, and governance documentation.
- Coordinate with the corporate affairs team to ensure regulatory and governance alignment.

Requirements
- Law degree (LLB or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in a generalist, regulatory, compliance, or commercial legal role, ideally within a law firm, professional services firm, or in-house legal department.
- Proven experience in: Regulatory compliance and legal risk management; Providing broad-based legal support across operational matters; Commercial contracting (drafting, reviewing, and negotiation); Exposure to corporate governance and entity matters (supporting role).
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, compliance obligations, and risk management. Experience in a multi-jurisdictional or Middle East regulatory environment is highly desirable.
- Solid contractual drafting and negotiation skills, with excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate effectively as a legal generalist across diverse subject areas.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities; high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical judgment.
- Proactive, solution-oriented approach in a fast-paced professional services environment.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
