Purpose of the Role
The Head Receptionist supervises and ensures the smooth running of all Reception and Telephone operations in an efficient and effective manner, delivering the highest standards of service to all guests (internal and external). The role involves developing, managing, and leading the department’s human resources, equipment, and provisions. The Head Receptionist is also expected to be proactive in maintaining and/or improving departmental profitability in line with hotel policies, procedures, and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and deputise for the Front Office Manager when required.
- Supervise daily Front Office operations, including Reception, Reservations, Porters, and Telephone services.
- Deliver outstanding guest service by anticipating needs, handling feedback and complaints, and maintaining high service standards throughout the guest journey.
- Manage staff scheduling, supervision, training, and performance in line with business levels, labour standards, and hotel policies.
- Drive revenue through upselling, cross-selling, and promoting hotel services, facilities, and upgrades.
- Monitor operational standards, system accuracy, cleanliness, and readiness of guest rooms and public areas.
- Assist with cost control, stock management, reporting, and achievement of departmental financial targets.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with guests, tour operators, travel agents, and business partners.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Head Receptionist or in a similar hospitality role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Good knowledge of hotel Front Office systems and procedures.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
