The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit, Science- and Technology-oriented Educational and Research Institution, based in Cyprus and governed by an acclaimed Board of Directors. The research agenda of the CyI is pursued at its five Research Centres, namely:

  1. The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Centre (CaSToRC)
  2. The Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Centre (STARC)
  3. The Energy Environment Water Research Centre (EEWRC)
  4. The Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre (CARE-C)
  5. The Science and Technology Driven Policy and Innovation Research Centre (STeDI-RC)

Considerable cross-centre interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s scientific ethos.

The Cyprus Institute invites applications for a highly qualified and motivated individual to join the Institute’s STARC Centre on a part-time basis (50% FTE) for its premises at Athalassas Campus.

The successful candidate will join the OneArchSci team as an Administrative Assistant to support the project’s activities. The ERA Chair “One Archaeological Science” project (https://1archsci.cyi.ac.cy/) aims to promote the use of isotope analyses across the archaeological science teams at STARC. In addition to an active training program in Cyprus and Leuven, concrete steps will be taken to cross sectorial boundaries, contributing to multiple impacts on a societal level. The postholder will support the organisation and administration of the project's activities, including the organisation of research data and documenting material, reporting directly to Professor Rehren, the PI of the project.

Position Specific Responsibilities/activities:

  • Provides broad range of administrative support including:
    • Organization, Maintenance and update of research records including data input into Excel
    • Handling documentation
    • Minutes keeping
    • Schedules appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements
    • Assisting with photographic documentation of research material
    • Researching literature online and physical
  • Responds to inquiries and works closely with key staff in the administration of activities and programs
  • Performs related duties as assigned
  • Supports with material and assists in the planning, coordination and support of a variety of meetings and special events
  • Handles administrative duties including requests for travel reimbursements, and IT related needs

Position Specific Required Qualifications:

  • Basic Academic qualifications (School Certificate, Diploma)
  • Demonstrates development ability, outstanding organizational, analytical skills, problem solving and communication skills

Position Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in archaeology, history or similar field will be considered an advantage
  • Professional qualification or relevant professional experience of 3 years with proven track record of relevant training participation (Office Administration) will be considered an advantage

Duration of appointment:

The initial period of the appointment will be for a duration of 18 months with the possibility of renewal, depending on performance and availability of funds.

Remuneration details:

Salary Band: CYI1(1-16)

Position’s Starting Salary: CYI1.1 - €20178.47
