Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort is seeking to recruit a Pastry Cook B.

Responsibilities

  • Produces food of high quality according to the standard recipes.
  • Operates pastry cooking equipment such as ovens, ice cream machines, mixers etc.
  • Weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment. In case of any equipment fault informs immediately his/her superiors.
  • Observes and tests desserts and pastries to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
  • Communicates to his/her superior any difficulties, guest comments and other relevant information.
  • Ensures that all cleanliness and hygiene requirements are met within health and safety standards and sets a good example for personal hygiene and safe working practices.
  • Assists in maintaining a high standard of food production.
  • Prepares in advance food, material and equipment needed for the service.
  • Cleans and re-sets his/her working area.
  • Portions, arranges, and garnishes food, and serves food to waiters or directly to guests if on a live cooking station on the buffet.

Requirements and skills

  • Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar position preferably at a 5* Hotel.
  • In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, baking techniques.
  • Good knowledge of English language.
  • Willingness to replenish professional knowledge.
  • Organising and leadership skills with attention to detail and creativity.
