CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an established and expanding Group of Companies offering Financial Technology solutions to a wide range of clients, we are seeking to recruit a Group Financial Controller to join their growing team based in Nicosia. Reporting to the Group CFO, the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in developing and leading a dynamic financial control team comprising of ambitious and progressive accountants. You will need to be educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another closely related field, and be a full member of a globally recognised accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA). Our client is seeking applicants who possess in excess of 5+ years of post-qualification experience working as Financial Controllers, including a proven and demonstrable track-record of leading large finance departments. Experience working for either an Electronic Money Institution (EMI), Payment Service Provider (PSP), FX Broker, or other relevant Fintech company is an essential requirement for this position. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, reporting variances.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Creating reports (annual and monthly) which identifies results, trends and forecasts.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and address technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
  • Manage and comply with accounting, regulatory reporting requirements, and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to enhance internal controls.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and adapt existing processes for global scalability.
  • Produce monthly financial reporting packs for the Europe.
  • Deliver financial reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Act as the primary contact for external auditors, tax advisors and regulators.
  • Manage FX and intercompany reporting.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with banking partners.
  • Supervising and managing finance and treasury operations staff.
  • Support the business with the financial strategy and decision-making processes.
  • Helping the CFO in presenting reports to Board Members and Senior Executives.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, Economics or another closely related field.
  • Fully member of a globally recognised accounting body such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA.
  • In excess of 5+ years of post-qualification experience is essential.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller is a must.
  • Previous experience working for a either an Electronic Money Institution (EMI), Payment Service Provider (PSP), FX Broker, or other relevant Fintech company is an essential.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in creating financial statements and executing month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Safeguarding rules as well as Treasury Operations.
  • Experience working with large volumes of transactional data across multiple currencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and ESoft (advantageous).
  • Track record of improving, streamlining, and automating global processes and controls.
  • Demonstrated success in a fast-track career trajectory.
  • Experience in Payments or Transactional Banking (required) and Cards (Credit/Debit) experience (desirable).
  • Experience of managing large teams.
