Are you driven by delivering customer service excellence? Do you want to be part of a team focusing on optimising processes and designing customer-centric payment solutions to enhance collection procedures? Then you might be the new Debt Portfolio Manager in our Credit Management Team.

As Debt Portfolio Manager you will be part of a journey towards a standardised collection approach, releasing more time for exception handling and specific customer focus. The team plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between internal and external customers, with the aim of delivering an outstanding customer experience for everyone involved supported by strong automated processes.

Become part of a team promoting accuracy and structure
You will report to our Head of Credit Management and be part of a team of three. Alongside your manager and another Debt Portfolio Manager you will be serving as a close link between the commercial teams, Finance and the departments responsible for disputes and invoicing to address payment discrepancies and resolve billing issues. The purpose of the team will be to efficiently operate our newly established dunning process and hereby reduce NORDEN’s receivables while driving an internal service platform for payment insights. The team will work towards NORDEN’s strategic goal of structured and formalised processes handling with the objective of straight through processing (‘STP’) for the majority of invoices issued while also fully handling and monitoring all our incoming operational cash flow. Increasing the number of STP customers will require the Debt Portfolio Manager to build close relationships to the customers in order to, if necessary, negotiate agreements for timely payments and debt collection. The team is based in Limassol, Cyprus.

As Debt Portfolio Manager your primary responsibility will be to support our Head of Credit Management in reducing receivables and in creating a highly professional team with a competitive and business-oriented mindset. We believe that establishing an outperforming team is not only up to the manager but happens by empowering our employees to embark on the journey alongside the manager.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Collection in NORDEN through strong processes which cover:
    • Process oversight of portfolio customers and work towards an increasing number of STP portfolio clients
    • Contacting external customers to mitigate credit exposure (address outstanding debt and formulate strategies for payment resolution within team mandate).
    • Monitoring and tracking payment activities, ensuring customers adhere to agreed-upon payment plans and resolving any discrepancies.
    • Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers while ensuring timely payment, handling inquiries, and addressing concerns regarding outstanding debts.
    • Maintaining accurate records of collection activities, documenting payment agreements, and preparing reports on single clients for in-house customers.
    • Internal reporting and proactive stakeholder management towards in-house customers.
    • Adhering to company policies and industry standards and regulatory requirements governing debt collection practices and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Identifying process inefficiencies, recommending improvements, and implementing best practices to enhance debt collection effectiveness and efficiency.

Your competences and core qualifications
Ideally you have experience with collection processes from previous jobs as well as an educational background within maritime studies and/or finance and/or business administration. To be the right match for this position, you must understand the shipping terminology used. It is a further advantage if you have experience with CRM, MSBC and/or IMOS.
