As a Senior Database Developer, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing our client’s database systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. You will design and create database structures that meet the requirements of the application or system and define data models, relationships, and constraints to ensure data integrity. Our client is seeking applicants who are ideally educated to degree level in Computer Science, Information Technology, or another related field, who possess proven experience working as a Senior Database Developer in the financial services industry. Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle is essential, as well as sound knowledge of database design principles, data modelling, and schema optimization techniques. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Design and create database structures that meet the requirements of the application or system.
• Define data models, relationships, and constraints to ensure data integrity.
• Optimize database design for performance and scalability.
• Develop, implement, and maintain database solutions.
• Write and optimize SQL queries to retrieve, update, and manipulate data.
• Implement stored procedures, triggers, and functions for data processing.
• Plan and execute data migration projects when transitioning from one system to another.
• Ensure data accuracy and consistency during the migration process.
• Identify and address issues related to query performance, indexing, and overall database optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system administrators, and business analysts, to support database-related initiatives and projects.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including database schemas, configurations, and procedures.
• Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in database management and apply them to enhance our database systems.

Key Skills/Experience: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience working as a Senior Database Developer in the financial services industry.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
• Knowledge of database design principles, data modelling, and schema optimization techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot database-related issues independently.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
