THE COMPANY

On behalf of our client, a reputable organisation operating in the Technology, Media, and Telecom industry, we seek to recruit a dynamic and high calibre professional for the position of Chief Energy Management Officer, to be based in Nicosia.

THE POSITION

The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director of the organisation and will be responsible to oversee, direct and manage the operational activities of the Energy function.

More specifically, the candidate will be responsible for the below duties, among others:

• Liaise with the Managing Director to define Energy related objectives, communicate the strategic direction and execute all decisions approved in relation to the energy management initiatives of the Organisation
• Develop, implement and monitor short-term and long-term business strategies and initiatives in regards to Energy components and services
• Supervise and direct the Organisation’s day-to-day energy management activities and affairs and maintain constant communication with the Managing Director on the status of operations
• Forecast and estimate the organisational energy needs and manage the mix of the available Power Sources
• Plan, coordinate and organise the availability of new Power Sources
• Assess the asset acquisition opportunities for the organisation and participate in M&A initiatives
• Identify Power Suppliers and participate in the negotiation with the Organisation’s existing and potential clientele up to the finalisation of power purchase agreements
• Collaborate with the Managing Director and Chief Commercial Officer in the development of new products and value-added services.
• Manage and oversee wholesale energy purchases and sales
• Review and analyse financial activity reports and other related data to measure profitability and identify possible areas of development in order to take immediate actions
• Provide support to the Energy Retail function of the Organisation and collaborate closely with the Managing Director and Function Managers
• Communicate with external stakeholders (i.e., Regulator, Transmission System Operators, Distribution Network Operators, Power Providers, Asset Owners, etc.) with the aim to ensure the smooth operation of the Organisation
• Involve and provide support in business development related activities of the Organisation
• Participate in key hiring initiatives

REQUIREMENTS

• University degree in Engineering, Energy Management or in any other related field
• At least ten (10) years of experience in the energy sector, in management or consulting is highly desirable (local experience is a plus).
• At least five (5) years of experience in managing teams
• Proven experience of leading the development of renewable energy projects, specifically in solar parks is highly desirable
• Experience in energy procurement and energy management strategy
• Strong understanding of the development process for solar projects including constraints analysis and grid connection
• Strong knowledge in regulatory systems for renewables (local knowledge is a plus)
• Basic legal knowledge including Power Purchase Agreement and land option agreements
• Proven leadership skills and experience in managing people and teams effectively
• Strong orientation towards operational matters
• Results oriented with strong business acumen
• Organisational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
• Excellent representation and communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of Greek and English, both written and verbal
• Excellent computer literacy
