The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit science and technology oriented educational and research institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research agenda of the CyI is pursued at its four Research Centres: The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Centre (CaSToRC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Centre (STARC), the Energy Environment Water Research Centre (EEWRC) and the Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre (CARE-C). Considerable cross-centre interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s culture.

The Cyprus Institute invites applications for highly qualified and motivated Full-Stack Developers to join the Institute as Computational Support Specialists at the Impacts and Policy Department (IPD) of CARE-C. The selected candidates will join a research team that aims to assess climate change impacts on vector-borne diseases and their insect vectors. The team has been among the first to develop mathematical models of complex life activities that can predict habitat suitability and abundance of climate-sensitive disease vectors. As part of this Wellcome Trust-supported project, a user-friendly, interactive web-based geographic information and decision support platform will be developed within the high-performance supercomputing environment of CyI. The results will inform the public and contribute to global-to-local strategies of vector management, and help with efficient, cost-effective, and ecologically sound and sustainable vector control measures to prevent future outbreaks and spreading of vector-borne infectious diseases.

The rank of the position will depend on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The period of the appointment will be for a duration of 2 years. An internationally competitive remuneration package will be offered, which is commensurate with the level of experience of the successful candidate.
