The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit science and technology oriented Educational and Research Institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research agenda of the CyI are pursued at its four Research Centers: The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Center (STARC), the Energy Environment Water Research Center (EEWRC) and the Climate and Atmospheric Research Center (CARE-C). Considerable cross-center interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s culture.

The Cyprus Institute is seeking to recruit a Facilities Officer to join its Infrastructure and Facilities team. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Officer will actively contribute to all campus related matters relating to the CyI’s vision to be world class by keeping the buildings and infrastructure in a safe and usable condition that allows for their efficient utilization and overall effectiveness

The appointment will be on a full time basis, initially for a duration of 2 years, with the potential of renewal depending on performance and availability of funds. An internationally competitive remuneration package will be offered, which is commensurate with the level of experience of the successful candidate.

 

Responsibilities/activities to be involved in:

Reporting to the Facilities Manager and working with the facilities team they will:

  • Participate in the coordination of all planned and reactive maintenance for all equipment, plant, building services and systems.
  • Contribute in the procurement, coordination and/ or management of all contractor relationships relating to facilities including cleaning, maintenance, security and asset management.
  • Contribute in the coordination and management of small scale refurbishment and office moves projects, and will support the program of major capital works.
  • Support the Health and Safety Officer on fire safety and health and safety issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports as required by the Senior Management Team.
  • Comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Participate in and carry out other related duties as requested by the Senior Management Team.

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or other related field degree
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience of delivering a high-quality facilities management service
  • A strong practical knowledge of buildings and their equipment and services
  • Experience of successfully delivering small-scale building projects
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety and fire safety requirements and legislation
  • Experience of procuring and managing external contractors
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to manage a diverse workload
  • Design capabilities and use of AutoCAD
  • Excellent knowledge of English and Greek languages, both verbally and in writing
