Applications are invited from candidates who possess the necessary qualifications in order to fill one (1) research position in the Department of Computer Science, the Xi Computer Architecture Lab, to conduct research related to “Generating Stress Viruses for Modern Processors".
The project «RSHIELD» covers a wide range of topics related to viruses, power, processor microarchitecture and system software of modern processors found in client devices and servers.
Tasks and responsibilities:
1. Conducting experimental research on computing systems.
2. Collection and analysis of experimental results.
3. Code and script development.
4. Bibliographical review of the current literature.
5. Writing reports for the carried work.
General qualifications & requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science or Computer Engineering) from accredited institutions.
2. Previous coursework and/or research experience in topics relevant to Computing Systems, Computer Architecture and Power
3. Excellent programming skills (e.g., C/C++, Python, Bash, assembly)
4. Excellent knowledge of both spoken and written English language.
Additional qualifications:
1. Previous experience with optimization using genetic algorithms
2. Experience with the use of monitoring tools for performance and power (e.g., perf, Soc Watch) as well as characterization of voltage noise.
Terms of Employment:
The monthly gross amount is estimated at €1500. From this amount, employee contributions will be deducted. There is no provision for 13th salary.

Applicants need not be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. Applicants should however ensure, before applying, that in case they are selected they will be residing in Cyprus on a full-time basis during the employment period; submission of application implies acceptance of this condition.
