SPECIAL SCIENTIST POSITIONS IN TRANSLATION

The Department of English Studies at the University of Cyprus invites applications for up to two (2) Special Scientist positions in Translation for the Fall Semester 2023/24, pending final approval and funding by the University authorities.

TEACHING REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate(s) will be required to teach:
• Two (2) elective courses in Translation Studies (addressed to 3rd & 4th year students), preferably in the areas of Translation Tools and of Specialized Translation (LSP-Translation). Teaching duties also include the administration and marking of final exams.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates applying to teach elective courses must hold a PhD in a relevant field. All applicants must have excellent command of both English and Greek. Interested applicants should state indicative titles for the elective course(s) they would be willing to teach and demonstrate their suitability for each.
Applicants do not necessarily need to be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. Experience in teaching translation courses (both theoretical and practical) will be an asset.

EMPLOYMENT
Each elective course is taught for 3 hours weekly. Remuneration is 68 Euro (gross) per teaching hour for PhD holders. Teaching duties start on 4 September 2023, ending on15 December 2023. The paid employment is for 15 weeks throughout the Fall semester 2023/24. Payment for each course is made as follows: €68 per hour Χ teaching hours X 15 weeks.

Successful candidates will be asked to submit certified copies from the Ministry of Education of Cyprus (if degrees were acquired in Cyprus) or from the respective institution abroad.
In case an applicant is employed in the public or wider public sector of the Republic of Cyprus, s/he must obtain permission to work at the University from the appropriate Department/Ministry, or wider public sector authority.
The deadline for receiving applications is Monday, 12 June 2023, 20.00 pm. Incomplete applications, applications in the wrong format, or applications that arrive after the deadline will not be considered.
