CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, the owner and operator of 2 luxury hotels in Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit a Payroll Officer to join their growing teams based in either Paphos or Ayia Napa. As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for managing and administering all payroll-related tasks and ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries to hotel employees. You will work closely with the finance and human resources departments to maintain payroll records, process payroll transactions, and comply with legal and regulatory requirements. You will hold approximately 2+ years of experience in a relevant Payroll focused position and possess a solid understanding of local payroll standards here in Cyprus. Excellent communication skills in English and Greek are a must.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process the hotel's payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with company policies, employment contracts, and relevant legislation.
  • Review and verify attendance records, timesheets, and other relevant documentation to calculate employees' working hours, overtime, and leave balances.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including personal information, tax details, banking information, and salary changes. Update and reconcile payroll data in the payroll system regularly.
  • Handle the administration of employee benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other payroll deductions. Ensure accurate calculations and timely payment.
  • Calculate and deduct appropriate income tax, social security, and other statutory deductions from employee wages. Prepare and submit accurate tax reports to the relevant authorities within prescribed deadlines.
  • Generate payroll reports, including wage summaries, overtime analysis, and payroll variance reports. Provide management with insights and recommendations based on payroll data.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, taxes, and deductions promptly and courteously. Collaborate with HR and finance teams to resolve payroll-related issues effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to payroll, including employment laws, tax regulations, and data protection. Assist with internal and external payroll audits as required.
  • Coordinate with IT or external vendors to maintain and enhance the payroll system, ensuring its accuracy, efficiency, and security.
  • Stay updated with changes in payroll legislation, regulations, and best practices. Suggest and implement process improvements to streamline payroll operations and enhance efficiency.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2+ years of proven experience as a payroll officer or in a similar payroll-related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processing, tax regulations, and employment laws.
  • Proficiency in using payroll software and Social Insurance system (Ergani).
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Greek.
  • Discretion and integrity when handling confidential employee information.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle payroll-related issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with hotel industry payroll practices is a plus.
