Purpose of the position
The purpose of SAT-7 is to provide Christian television to support the work and witness of the church in the Middle East and North Africa.The Finance Director provides strategic leadership and oversees all SAT-7’s corporate legal and financial affairs worldwide to deliver accurate, compliant and efficient financial services & information, to support effective decision making and efficient resource allocation & utilization to maximize ministry effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- The Finance Director takes shared ownership of the development and stewardship of SAT-7’s Corporate Goals, annual budget, staff and secondee recruitment and development strategies, and organisational effectiveness.
Technical Professional Leadership
- Finance and LegalManagement of the SAT-7 IO Finance and Legal Teams, establishing appropriate legal structures and finance team structures of management and supervision.
- The Finance Director coordinates the legal and financial affairs of SAT-7’s legal entities.
- Oversight of routine financial and legal reporting, including the periodic consolidation of all office budgets and reports.
- Review and ensure compliance with SAT-7’s “Business Policies & Practices”, both within the IO and at all SAT-7 Offices seeking to maximise the collaboration between all such registered entities.
- Responsibility for SAT-7´s international financial and legal structures, procedures, systems and processes, both within the IO & at SAT-7 Country Offices; as well as responsibility to maximise international collaboration between all of SAT-7’s different financial and legal centers and, in some cases, legally independent entities and around the world.
- Has administrative line management responsibility for staff in the International Office covering the Finance and Legal.
- Also, the Finance Director has functional supervision of Finance staff at other locations, at the same time recognising the legal independence of some of these SAT-7 offices.
- Evaluate and develop compliance with legal requirements.Responsibility for SAT-7’s operational liquidity and cash management in the Middle East, reporting to the SAT-7 COO, CEO and Executive Board on these matters.
- Short and Long term and strategic capital and revenue financial planning for SAT-7 in the Middle East.
- Responsible for overseeing all audits.
- Responsible for relations with financial and legal institutions (Government institutions, tax authorities, Customs, banks, lawyers, etc.).
- Other projects as requested.
Qualifications and requirements
- Be committed to and enthusiastic about the purpose and goals of SAT-7 Certified Public Accountant/ Certified Chartered Accountant/ Certified Cost Accountant, or Chartered Financial AnalystMaster’s degree in accountancy.
- Business Administration (Finance &/or Legal) MA, MS, MBA an advantageProven experience as director of Finance or similar role.
- Knowledge of accounting systems and financial reporting for not-for-profit organisations.Risk based auditing proven experience.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- An analytical mind with demonstrated strategic ability.
- In depth knowledge of finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices.
- Have, or be ready to develop, sensitivity to the multi-religious communities of the Middle East, and to the political/cultural situation in the region.International and/or prior experience working with an INGO.
- Extensive experience in managing projects/NGOs etc.
- Have a proven track record working in a similarly complex business environment.
- Demonstrable general management skills alongside financial management and legal skills are essential.Fluent in English; Arabic/Farsi/Turkish an advantage.
- Professional experience within western countries is considered an advantage.
