Position: Data Scientist, Financial Services Risk & Regulation | Risk Advisory Services Department

Risk Advisory is part of Deloitte Middle East Risk Advisory and is responsible for advising (in strategy, financial, regulatory and business process risks) the top management of leading international clients across industry in the region, mainly focusing on the FS.

Our FS Risk and Regulatory team is seeking to recruit a dynamic and high calibre professional to join us at the position of Data Scientist, in our Nicosia or Limassol Offices. The successful candidate will be involved primarily in Deloitte Middle East Data Analytics and AI projects.

The Role

The successful candidate will join a dynamic Risk Advisory team and support leveraging the power of data, advanced analytics and cognitive technologies to uncover hidden relationships from vast troves of data, generate insights, identify risks and inform decision-making.

The position’s main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Advising the top management of leading international clients on data analytics and AI matters, focusing on risk analytics

  • Implementing data and AI-driven solutions for clients and supporting them in operationalising them

  • Advising clients in strategy related to Data & AI and in managing financial, regulatory and modelling risks

  • Working with other teams across the Deloitte network to implement large-scale data ecosystems including data management, governance and the integration of structured and unstructured data to generate insights leveraging cloud-based platforms

  • Leveraging automation, cognitive and science-based techniques to manage data, predict scenarios and prescribe actions for managing risks and provide Client insights

  • Driving operational efficiency by maintaining their data ecosystems, sourcing analytics expertise and providing As-a-Service offerings for continuous insights, improvements and risk monitoring

  • Supporting and assisting senior management in developing and winning new business, including assisting with proposal development

  • Contributing to building the Deloitte brand in our core service offerings, including participating in industry forums, thought leadership and internal events

  • Acting as an individual contributor, delivering high quality work with guidance from senior team members, to develop high-performing people and teams, leading and supporting them to make an impact that matters, and setting the direction to deliver exceptional client service.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate and/or Postgraduate degree from a reputable University in Science fields such as Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Technology or other quantitative disciplines

  • Solid understanding of the ML lifecycle and concepts

  • Demonstrable experience of applying ML and NLP approaches in a business context

  • 2+ years of experience in developing algorithms using data science technologies to build analytical models

  • 2+ years of data extraction/manipulation experience using scripts specific to AI/ML and data wrangling/cleansing

  • Hands-on experience with web APIs

  • A solid technical grounding in SQL, R, Python or other programming languages

  • Experience on projects with different technology stacks, integration aspects (with packages or external solutions) & infrastructure aspects

  • Experience as BI & ETL developer on the Microsoft or other equivalent stack

  • Experience in Power BI and/or other equivalent BI tools (Tableau, Qlik)

  • Experience on Microsoft Azure Data Platform

  • A structured, result-driven attitude with an entrepreneurial, creative mind-set

  • Ability to communicate complex topics effectively in writing as well as in presentations

  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point

  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages, both verbal and written

  • Willing to travel and possibly spend long periods of time working overseas (including in the Middle East)
