The Product Owner is responsible for addressing business needs and working with relevant stakeholders to determine solutions to business problems, while ensuring alignment with Vubiquity’s strategic objectives. By leveraging existing knowledge of the business, including intimate knowledge of business systems/platforms/applications/tools and enterprise-wide processes, the Product Owner will effectively capture and communicate requirements for both internally driven efforts and changes necessary to service Vubiquity’s customers.

What will your job look like?

Purpose of Role

For efforts driven by the Vubiquity Product team, the Product Owner shall lend expertise to what Product has captured, and ultimately sign off on said Stories. The Product Owner shall also be responsible for scoping and illustrating end-to-end workflows and/or operational processes as relates to a given project. BA shall work in close conjunction with Project Managers, Program Managers, Product, Agile Delivery Teams, Sales and Enterprise Architecture.     

Vubiquity’s technology platform is a key factor contributing towards the group’s competitive advantage, and hence commercial success. The Product Owner acts as the primary interface between Vubiquity’s business users and the technology delivery teams. In this way the Product Owner will play a key part in the success of the organization.

Primary Activities and KPI’s

  • How is the role measured?
    o Accuracy and timeliness of requirements gathered from stakeholders
    o Accuracy and timeliness of documentation delivered to software delivery teams
    o Accuracy and timeliness of handover of delivered solutions to the business

  • What are the deliverables?
    o Documentation of business requirements including but not limited to, business requirements documents, process diagrams and wireframes
    o Epics and User Stories groomed and ready for development
    o Coordination of User Acceptance Testing and user handover
    o End user documentation including user guides

  • How often is that updated?
    The deliverables are updated as business projects priorities change

  • How is the role split time wise?
    o 40% Requirements gathering and documentation
    o 30% User Story creation and backlog grooming
    o 30% User Acceptance Testing and user handover

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Gathering and documentation of requirements from internal business users and external customers

  • Liaise with architects to ensure solutions are designed and are aligned with enterprise architecture

  • Create User Stories to effectively communicate business requirements to technology delivery teams

  • Attend Backlog Grooming and Sprint Planning sessions as required to ensure that User Stories are understood and prioritised appropriately

  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing

  • Lead the handover of solutions into the business

  • Quickly understand business issues facing the organisation and clients to identify how they can be resolved through Vubiquity’s workflows and systems

  • Identify ways in which to simplify or streamline workflows and processes within the business

  • Liaise with relevant technology and operational teams to ensure project delivery.

  • Assist in enforcement of project deadlines and schedules.

  • Manage expectations of stakeholders and project teams, ensuring any threats that arise to project delivery timelines are escalated.

  • Attend status update meetings and manage actions arising through to completion.

  • Keep abreast of industry standards and trends with regards to best practices.

  • Providing technical guidance to product teams to define and influence company goals and strategic direction.

  • Act as primary system(s) specialist on assigned Product application(s).

All you need is...

  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) preferred.

  • BA/BS degree required or equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst.

  • Technical writing skills - comprehension of Systems Engineering concepts.

  • Honed skills and knowledge developed elsewhere in the organization.

  • Leadership qualities, including meeting facilitation, time management, organizational skills, strategic planning, risk management, and ability to influence others. Ability to operate effectively within diverse and cross-functional groups.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, including a qualitative and quantitative skill set.

  • Demonstrated success with working effectively with technical players.

  • Ability to accommodate change and adapt accordingly.

  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to tailor communication to audience to achieve desired results.

  • Highly responsible and self-motivated, able to thrive in an energetic, fast paced environment.

  • Team player who can build relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

  • Good problem solving abilities and able to think creatively

  • Good attention to detail

  • Possess the ability to articulate technical issues in a non-technical manner to non-technical people
