THE COMPANY

On behalf of our client, an established and leading Organization in the Aviation industry, we seek to recruit an enthusiastic and high calibre professional for the position of Database Administrator, to be based in Larnaca. 

THE POSITION

The successful candidate will be is responsible for the design, implementation and support of the corporate and airports’ database systems.

More specifically, the responsibilities of the successful candidate will be the following, amongst others:

• Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on end users’ requirements
• Design and implement databases in accordance to end users’ information needs and views
• Validate and monitor the redundancy, stability, performance and scalability of the systems
• Identify, evaluate and recommend hardware or software technologies to achieve desired database systems performance
• Responsible for the instalment, configuration and maintenance of the SQL Servers including monitoring the health of SQL instance and performance
• Review procedures in database management system manuals and make changes to databases as deemed necessary
• Manage system patches to maintain system accuracy and security posture
• Monitor the daily, weekly and monthly backup tasks and administration of databases
• Ensure high availability of infrastructure and implementation of disaster recovery tests
• Plan and install upgrades of database management system software (SQL) to enhance database performance
• Develop standards and guidelines for the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information

REQUIREMENTS             

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or in any other related field
• At least three (3) years of demonstrated experience in a similar position, preferably in a large organization with big volume of data
• Minimum two (2) years of experience with relational databases including Windows Domain environment and Microsoft SQL Server in data administration and analysis
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server backup and recovery scenario is highly desired
• Excellent knowledge of MS SQL (T-SQL) and MS BI stack (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS)
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of networking (TCP/IP), virtualization and related systems required for devices to use network resources successfully (DNS, DHCP)
• Strong time management and organisational skills  
• Critical and analytical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal and teamworking skills
• Ability to adapt effectively in a fast-paced environment with unpredictable changes
• Ability to work under pressure and effectively manage high workload in a highly dynamic environment with strict deadlines
• Strong understanding of the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
• Strong stress management skills
• Ability of self-motivation and self-learning
• Excellent knowledge of the English and Greek languages, both written and spoken
