CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER - NICOSIA

On behalf of our client, a leading Insurance Company, we are seeking to recruit an experienced and high calibre professional for the position of Chief Information Officer, to be based in Nicosia. 

THE POSITION

The successful candidate will be responsible to determine and implement the Information Technology roadmap and will lead the digital transformation process of the Company while proactively responding to the evolving technological needs of the business.  The position will be directly reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and will be part of the executive leadership team.

More specifically, the responsibilities of the successful candidate will be the following, amongst others:

  • Shape and have the overall responsibility of the Information Technology strategy of the Company, ensuring that this is aligned with the Company’s vision, strategic goals and priorities
  • Formulate, lead and enhance the digital transformation journey of the Company and identify opportunities to achieve synergies and operational excellence
  • Monitor and assess the existing technological status of the Company, identify opportunities for enhancement and create action plans to proactively respond to future challenges
  • Drive technological change within the Company
  • Ensure that the technological and business resources are properly allocated and aligned with the business requirements
  • Provide guidance and direction to the Information Technology department regarding network infrastructure, business applications, systems and technology
  • Effectively deliver technical and technological services to support the business and quality, while ensuring that the Company’s systems are always functioning successfully and without disruption
  • Enable technology practices that adhere to regulatory and sectoral standards and processes, while also ensuring proper policies and procedures are in place and in line with compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with internal and external audit teams as needed and apply recommendations according to the relevant regulations when deemed necessary
  • Continuously evaluate and evolve the business recovery action plan
  • Lead, inspire and mentor members of his/her team, provide guidance and training opportunities, as well as encouragement and motivation for the achievement of set objectives as well as professional development
  • Monitor and generate the IT budget, ensure value optimization, oversee expenditures and forecast potential budget overruns against planned spending and take corrective action as deemed necessary
  • Engage and manage external vendors as needed, to deliver the required core IT systems and network services and lead vendor contract negotiations

REQUIREMENTS             

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or in any other related field
  • At least ten (10) years of proven experience in similar positions in reputable organisations, preferably in financial services or insurance sector. Professional experience abroad will be considered an advantage
  • Change leadership acuity and experience in leading IT and digital transformation is highly desired
  • Previous experience in managing a team of various IT professionals (including IT Administrators, IT Security Professionals, Technicians, Developers, Business and Data Analysts etc.) is desirable
  • Must possess user experience orientation
  • Experience in optimization of business processes
  • Proven ability to successfully manage teams, ability to work with various personalities and perspectives
  • Strong team player and ability to cultivate effective collaboration
  • Critical and analytical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and solid representational skills
  • Business acumen, results and strategic orientation
  • Excellent knowledge of the English and Greek languages, both written and spoken
