The Cyprus Institute invites applications for a Research Technical Assistant to work in the broader field of Aerosol Science and Technology.

The position offers excellent possibilities for professional development of highly motivated individuals in the framework of the INFRASTRUCTURES/1216/0070, NANO2LAB project, which is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus through the Research Innovation Foundation (Strategic Infrastructure).

The role of the Research Technical Assistant will be to contribute to and support the operation of the Instrumentation for Nanoparticle/Nanomaterial Synthesis and Characterization Laboratory (INL) of the Cyprus Institute. More specifically the selected candidate will contribute for the smooth operation of a number of instruments in the INL, and for supporting students and researchers in their work. Training will be provided by CyI researchers for all the instruments available in the INL, and the successful candidate is expected to pick up on that training and provide support in the research carried out.

The position will be on a full-time basis for a fixed term of one year, renewable depending on performance and availability of funds. The rank of the position will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

 

Responsibilities/activities to be involved in:

  1. Assist in the operation and maintenance of instrument in the INL
  2. Assist in the development of new instruments and sensors
  3. Assist and contribute in compliance of all necessary Health and Safety measures

 

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor Degree in Electrical and/or Mechanical and/or Chemical and/or Aerospace Engineering Nanotechnology or Instrument Technology, or more broadly on Physics (experimental physics)
  2. Familiarity with instrumentation and characterization techniques
  3. Familiarity with programming languages
  4. Excellent knowledge of the English language both verbal and writing
  5. Experience in Mass Spectrometry and/or Atomic Force Microscopy

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Preferred experience in technology-related research laboratories.
  2. Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and measures relevant to lab/technical activities
