CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an established and renowned Golf Course operating in Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit a Director of Golf to join their team based in the Paphos area. The successful applicant must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a Senior Operations role as well as strong sales and marketing competencies. A passion for and knowledge of the game of Golf is highly desirable and is a distinct advantage. 

 

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Golf operations, roster scheduling and ongoing training of caddy masters golf shop staff and course guest attendants.
  • Responsible for operations of the Golf Academy including but not limited to management of staff, golf academy and driving range presentation, stock orders and control, including golf academy golf ball collection management.
  • Responsible for management and presentation of buggy fleet and storage facility.
  • Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to golf professionals, sports shop receptionists, caddy masters and course guest attendants.
  • Achieves established merchandise sales goals while maintaining budgeted gross margins.
  • Develops and implements creative merchandise promotions and maintains unique upscale visual merchandising standards.
  • Assists General Manager as requested to prepare and maintain the annual golf operations budget and capital expenditure plans.
  • Assists in on-going improvements and update to web site, booking system, sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Procures supplies and materials within budgetary limitations.


Key Skills/Experience:

  • BSc/BA in business administration, finance or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus.
  • 5+ years Proven experience as operations director or other relevant managerial role.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations would be an added advantage.
  • Proven experience in sales and/or marketing and managing relationships with key clients.
  • Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes.
  • Fundamental supervisory practices and principles.
  • Self-motivated with desire to promote and market.
  • Service and customer focused attitude.
  • Experienced in written and oral business communications.
  • Remain up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies.
  • Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language (verbal & written). Knowledge of Russian or German language would be considered an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
