We are seeking to recruit a dynamic and high calibre professional to join the central Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (CR&S) Team as an Internal Environmental Sustainability Specialist, at the level of Assistant Manager / Manager.

The Role

The key objective of the role is to provide proactive internal sustainability management as part of the Deloitte Middle East (DME) CR&S team and assist in the development, implementation, and management of internal programs and ensuring they are aligned with the overall organization business objectives.

In this role, you will demonstrate and develop your capabilities in the following areas:

  • Work closely with the CR&S leaders to meet business objectives and provide updates on material long-term sustainability risks and opportunities that need to be considered to deliver on Deloitte’s sustainability ambition;
  • Manage regional environmental sustainability programs and initiatives, including the development and execution of sustainability plans, firm wide communication, and promotion of the said programs;
  • Contribute to the development of overall sustainability objectives, including metrics, and standard reports for ongoing company requirements;
  • Manage collection, validation and benchmarking of environmental data related to energy, water, waste, and travel in line with reporting standards and track progress against targets;
  • Report on environmental performance, opportunities and risks, and progress to date;
  • Work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to ensure sustainability opportunities are maximized, including:
  • Estates and facilities managers to ensure environmental friendly office practices and the identification and delivery of energy efficiency, water reduction, waste reduction and recycling opportunities;
  • Travel managers to ensure creation of policies and accurate reporting of travel data;
  • IT: creation of a paperless offices;
  • Business leaders and client facing teams:  Low Carbon Engagements and ecosystem plays;
  • Procurement: accurate reporting of data;
  • Represent the practice on Global and regional teams, as requested;
  • Build relationships with relevant key account teams in the practices in the region and support their efforts to drive new sustainability practices;
  • Manage internal and external sustainability web portals;
  • Builds relationships and communicates effectively in order to positively influence peers and other stakeholders;
  • Monitor and identify best practices and trends, new technologies in sustainability and reporting practices, and diagnose organization challenges;
  • Monitor the legislative environment and ensure the relevant actions are taken place;
  • Assist in the development of sustainability policies to advance sustainability;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Business with emphasis in Sustainability, Environmental Sustainability, Environmental Science, and/or their equivalent from a reputable University.
  • Certification in GRI or equivalent sustainability standard/guideline is a plus.
  • 6-8 years experience in environmental sustainability role, sustainability consulting, carbon footprint, energy audit, or equivalent.
  • Experience in a multinational firm is a plus.
  • Knowledge of sustainability best practices and resources.
  • Strong analytical skills with proven abilities to take large volumes of data and then analyze trends and produce a result.
  • Strong communication skills, including excellent written and verbal capabilities. Strong presentation skills a plus.
  • Flexible, creative thinker, and fast learner
  • Team player with ability to multi task and work under pressure
  • Strong leadership qualities (i.e. management, organizational, analytical, and relationship development).
  • Fluent in English (Reading, Speaking and Writing).
  • Advanced level of technical proficiency and computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Management).
