MGR Human Resources Ltd is a leading, licensed private employment agency and a member of MAP S.Platis Group. We are looking to hire a Team Leader for Registration Assistants for the European Asylum Support Office to be based in Nicosia Aliens and Immigration Police Unit and/or Pournara First reception Center.

The position

The successful candidate will work on a secondment basis for the awarded contract for the Provision of Interim Services to the European Asylum Support Office (EASO). EASO is an EU Regulatory Agency headquartered in Malta whose mandate is to strengthen EU Member States’ practical cooperation on asylum, to support Member States whose asylum systems are under particular pressure and to enhance the implementation of the Common European Asylum System.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a team leader of an international team of registration experts on the registration of applications for international protection, following the relevant detailed Standard Operating Procedures and EU asylum acquis and in accordance to the instructions of the EASO Measure Coordinator
  • Oversee the registration assistant team (between 5-9) in different districts of The Republic of Cyprus including assignment of tasks and individual follow up of objectives and performance
  • Ensure implementation of the Standard Operating Procedures and EASO guidance on registration of applicants for international protection.
  • Provide guidance and instructions to the team to enhance productivity and quality of the service
  • Supports the Measure Coordinator on quality related issues. Coordinates the scheduling and the planning at district level of interpreters together with the Measure Coordinator and other colleagues.
  • Participate in the development of tools to support stakeholders leading the registration procedure; the Cypriot Asylum Service and the Aliens and Immigration Police Unit
  • Provide regular statistical reports to the Measure Coordinator and supports with the drafting of monitoring reports.
  • Participate in the processing of internal quality checks of registrations including the International protection lodging, the Dublin assessment and the vulnerability screening
  • Support trainings for the registration assistants with the Measure Coordinator and the training officer
  • Participate in trainings, workshops and meetings
  • Act as registration assistant (two third of the time/ to be defined) in Nicosia and/or Pournara, supporting the individual processing of international protection applications by third country nationals at district level including the lodging and registration, the vulnerability screening and the Dublin assessment
  • Implement data entry/registration of asylum claims into the Asylum Database
  • Manage documents, scan and archive as part of the registration of the asylum claims into the Asylum Database; Upload scanned documents on the Asylum Database
  • When appointed, support the daily and long-term planning of registrations and interviews and act as focal point and liaison for registrations and overall planning of interviews
  • Perform any other tasks in the interest of the service, relevant for the specific profile

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree is required preferably in the fields of law, political, humanitarian and social studies
  • Demonstrated previous experience as registration assistant or vulnerability expert in EASO operations would be considered an advantage
  • Very good understanding of the Cypriot migration and asylum context
  • Excellent command of the English and Greek languages, both verbal and written
  • Computer literate, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel), use of internet and web-based applications
  • Leadership skills and proven experience in team coordination
  • Strong representation skills
  • Excellent intercultural/interdisciplinary communication skills
  • Analytical skills and ability to work as a member of team
  • Mobility and flexibility to work in the different field locations

Remuneration

The position falls in hierarchical Category II and the associated salary is €20,112 gross annually in twelve monthly installments. The position also involves 21 days of annual leave, prorated depending on the employment starting date.
