Hegemonic Project is a Cyprus-based start-up company expected to be active in the gaming industry. Our first game is the “Hegemony”, a unique educational board game that will give the wider population the ability to develop a better understanding of how politics, political economy, economics and game theory work. Our vision is to inspire gamers and non-gamers to play and partake in our revolutionary games where education is acquired as turns come about.

Description:

As the academic associate, you will join our passionate creative team to work on projects for the company and its first educational game. This is an amazing opportunity to join a fast-growing team.

Responsibilities:

1. The academic associate is responsible for researching the academic principles that will be integrated into the Hegemony and providing guidance on how the main academic principles will be integrated into the game.
2. The academic associate will be responsible for writing down the main academic principles of the game (board, cards, booklet,etc. This does not mean that the academic associate will be responsible for creating the rulebook of the Hegemony. The academic associate will be responsible only for the academic parts of the booklet.
3. Collaborate with game developers during playtesting -if is not suitable, receiving feedback and analysing it- to evaluate the proper application of academic principles to mechanisms.
4. The academic associate is responsible for providing academic solutions when questions arise as to whether the application of an academic concept embedded in the game is appropriate.
5. Provide an advisory role on Hegemony storytelling.
6. Also, upon completion of the Hegemony, he/she will be ask to write a review of the game when the game is ready with emphasis on the academic impact.

Requirements:

1. Essential knowledge of Political Economy, Political Science, Economics and/or Comparative Politics. PhD holder will be considered as an important advantage.
2. Knowledge of English. Other language (preferably Greek, French, or German) will be considered as an important advantage.
3. Knowledge or involvement in the field of games will be considered as an extra advantage.

Deliverables:

1. Set the strategy: Draft report at the beginning in order to analyze and select the key academic guidelines for integrating academic principles into Hegemony mechanisms.
2. Game Booklet: The booklet would include scientifically based description to enforce understanding of different types of political principles. Final document of 5-10 pages with the written academic principles (translated into English, without art work) that will include in the booklet of the Hegemony.
3. A document listing all used sources.
4. An academic review upon completion of the game for promotion purposes.

Project Duration:

The duration of the project it will be 3-4 months (May till end of August). This means that most of the work and requirements will be done during this specific period. However, there is a flexibility about the duration. There will be a flexibility (individual will be able to work from home.

Delivery of the project:

The individual may work from home. Working hours will be flexible based on the individual schedule.

What Hegemonic Project Limited offers:

A competitive package will be offered. Hegemonic Project Limited will include the name of the Game Academic Associate into the credit part of the booklet of the game.
