Overall Purpose of The Job The Environmental Sustainability Officer is responsible for managing and coordinating V's sustainability reporting initiatives. This role involves the collection, analysis, and communication of sustainability data to ensure that the company meets its reporting obligations, aligns with industry best practices, and transparently communicates its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of sustainability frameworks, regulatory requirements, and reporting standards such as SASB, TCFD, CSRD and others.

Key Responsibilities And Tasks

  • Identify the ESG & Sustainability related governance work by contributing to and coordinating the Double Materiality study within CSRD & TCFD, leveraging findings to strengthen climate resilience within V’s ESG Strategy
  • Create and manage material & projects which raise the awareness for V’s ESG work both internally and externally, including the creation & distribution of ESG Dashboards, Annual ESG Reports, and projects sighting reduction of Scope 1 and 2 emissions
  • Manage the systems work required to scope and build the ESG & Sustainability Scorecard within ShipSure including ensuring the necessary reporting and data harvesting are in place
  • Lead the preparation, compilation and publication of V’s annual ESG Disclosure Report
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Finance, HSSEQ, Technical) to gather and verify data for reporting
  • Foster a culture of sustainability within V. by promoting awareness and engagement
  • Conduct regular assessments of V.’s environmental and social impacts
  • Support businesses within V., such as Oceanic, with their sustainability activities including ESG publications
  • Participate and assist in organizing relevant events (Donations, charities & other CSR activities)
  • Coordinate all waste management practices in line with Company’s goals. Responsible for the recycling initiative at the office and at key ports in collaboration with our suppliers. Responsible for identifying opportunities to expand recycling activities at ports
  • Maintenance and improvement of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, ensuring compliance with the standard through record keeping and assisting with internal and external audits.
  • Assist and work with HSSEQ Managers to develop, maintain and improve the effectiveness of the SEQ system.
  • Support all team members on site offering expertise and advice to improve HSSEQ performance
  • To be aware and up to date with new legislation and how they affect business
